Welcome.
This is Taran,
And I'm so glad that you're here.
This is a wellspring willow guided practice designed specifically for those moments when you feel physically stuck.
Whether you know it as the wall of awful,
Task paralysis,
Or simply the freeze,
You are standing in front of a task that feels immeasurable,
Impossible.
Even if the task is objectively small,
The internal resistance feels like a solid,
Towering barrier.
Before we go any further,
I invite you to find a position that feels supportive for your body.
Perhaps sitting or lying down,
Adjusting the shoulders,
Unclenching the jaw,
And allowing your weight to be fully held by whatever is beneath you.
Take a deep,
Slow breath in through the nose,
And a long,
Sighing exhale through the mouth.
Ahhhh.
One more time.
I want you to hear this clearly.
This is not laziness,
And it's not a character flaw either.
What you are experiencing is a neurochemical freeze response.
Your nervous system has perceived the stress associated with this task as a threat,
And it has pulled the emergency brake.
You are stuck because your system is trying to protect you.
Today,
We aren't going to try and climb the wall.
We aren't going to break through it with force.
Instead,
We are stepping into the stonas of Yoganidra,
A state of sleepless sleep,
To talk directly to your nervous system,
Bypassing the thinking brain,
And gently releasing that emergency brake from the inside out.
As you settle into this stonas,
We arrive at your intent for this practice.
We'll keep this very simple.
I'll offer three short phrases.
Pick the one that feels easiest to hold right now.
I am safe to move.
I am safe to move.
For ease is enough.
Ease is enough.
For I choose flow.
I choose flow.
For I choose flow.
Once you have your phrase,
Repeat it three more times in your head,
Locking it in.
Repeat it now silently.
Again.
Let those words sink into your body,
Like a drop of water into a deep well.
You don't need to do anything with them.
You don't need to try.
I will hold the practice for you from here.
Just listen.
Now,
We'll move into the bilateral toggle.
We're going to spark a connection between the right and left sides of the brain.
Simply let your awareness jump from side to side like a pulse of light.
Bring your awareness now to the right eye.
The left eye.
Right ear.
Left ear.
Right nostril.
Left nostril.
Right cheek.
Left cheek.
Feel the right side of the jaw.
The left side of the jaw.
The whole jaw,
Together.
Now,
Move to the hands.
Feel the right hand thumb.
The left hand thumb.
Right index finger.
Left index finger.
Right middle finger.
Left middle finger.
Right ring finger.
Left ring finger.
Right pinky.
Left pinky.
Feel the right palm.
The left palm.
Both palms together now.
Move your awareness down to the feet.
Right big toe.
Left big toe.
Right second toe.
Left second toe.
Right third toe.
Left third toe.
Right fourth toe.
Left fourth toe.
Left little toe.
Feel the sole of the right foot.
The sole of the left foot.
Both feet together.
Now,
Feel the entire right side of the body.
The entire left side of the body.
Imagine a line of light connecting the two halves.
Feel the center point.
Your spine.
You are centered.
You are integrated.
You are online.
Now,
We'll practice moving between opposites.
This is how we train the brain to stay focused.
Flexible.
Even when the wall feels high.
The static.
Bring your awareness to the feeling of the breeze.
Notice the sensation of the wall of alcohol.
Feel the heaviness in the limbs.
The bracing in the shoulders.
The static or fuzziness in the mind.
It feels like being locked in ice.
Heavy.
Immobile.
Experiencing the movement of the body.
Feel the resistance.
Fully.
It's not bad.
It's just a sensation.
You are simply observing.
The static.
The breeze.
Now,
The flow.
Let go of the static completely.
Shifting your awareness to the feeling of the wellspring.
Imagine a warm,
Gentle sun hitting that ice.
Feel a sense of thawing in the body.
Bring up the feeling of buoyancy.
Of water.
Moving effortlessly.
Ever stoned.
Feel the body becoming light.
Supple.
Fluid.
Like a willow branch in a gentle breeze.
You are flexible.
And unburdened.
Weightless.
Warm.
Fluid.
Now,
The toggle.
Move back to the static.
Feel the heavy bracing for just a moment.
And now,
Move back to the flow.
Feel the light fluidity.
The static.
And the flow.
The wellspring.
Now,
The integration.
Try to feel both at the same time.
The static.
The freeze.
Along with the flow.
The wellspring.
Notice that you can feel the wall of resistance,
Along with the wellspring of flow,
Simultaneously.
You are the space that holds both.
You are not the freeze.
You are the observer.
Standing in the center of your own agency.
Let go of any effort to think about the task itself.
Set aside the how and the when.
Instead,
I invite you to invite the physical sensation of your being.
Of the task being finished.
Complete.
Sense the weight of your body now.
Invite a feeling of heaviness in your hips and legs.
As if you just sat down after a long day of work or movement.
Notice the specific quality of the air in your lungs.
The air in the lungs.
Deep.
Somatic exhale.
The exhale that happens naturally when a burden is set down.
Notice the shoulders.
Simply sense the absence of bracing.
Notice the texture of the silence.
It isn't a busy silence.
It's a cool.
Clear.
This is the somatic signature.
Of being done.
You're feeling the truth of it.
In your skin.
Your nervous system knows.
The state of a captor.
The afterglow.
It knows the relief.
Of the pressure.
Being released.
It knows the warmth.
Stay with this physical memory.
Of completion.
You're not trying to get anywhere.
You're simply resting.
In the knowledge.
In our earlier practices.
We use the eye sweep.
To ground the gaze.
But today.
Because we're facing the wall.
We're going to use a kinetic.
Override.
To jump start.
Your motor cortex.
Your brain.
Might still be telling you.
That the wall.
Is too high.
We're not going to argue with it.
We're going to prove it wrong.
With the smallest.
Possible.
Proof of movement.
I invite you to bring all of your focus.
To just your right.
Pinky finger.
Don't move it yet.
Just feel the potential.
For movement sitting there.
Feel the spark.
We created.
During the rotation gathering.
In that one small finger.
In a moment.
I'll count down from three.
And on one.
I want you to give that pinky finger.
One tiny wiggle.
Just a flicker.
Three.
There.
The manual override.
Is complete.
The steel is broken.
The freeze is over.
Now.
Let that movement travel.
Wiggle the other fingers.
Circle the wrists.
Move the toes.
The emergency brake.
Has been released.
When you're ready.
Softly open the eyes.
You don't have to run towards your toes.
You don't have to do a task.
You just have to carry this feeling of flow.
Into the next minute.
Well done.
Well done.
This moment.
Is a return.
To your authentic flow.
