Welcome to Yoga Nidra for mental clarity,
Spacious awareness,
And inner stillness.
My name is Sarah.
If you find this practice supportive,
You're warmly invited to follow me here on Insight Timer.
I share meditations designed to help you soften,
Step away from constant responsibility,
And create space for rest and renewal.
This practice is an invitation to pause,
Especially if your mind has been carrying a great deal.
Information,
Decisions,
Responsibilities,
Notifications,
Mental lists,
And the subtle pressure to keep thinking about what comes next.
For many of us,
The mind rarely receives an opportunity to become truly quiet.
Even during moments of rest,
Thoughts can continue moving beneath the surface.
If you have been feeling mentally full,
Distracted,
Or stretched across too many responsibilities at once,
You are not alone.
Today's guided meditation offers something different.
Not the kind of clarity that comes from trying harder,
Analyzing more,
Or forcing answers to appear,
But the kind of clarity that often emerges when there is enough space to notice what is already here.
During this meditation we will journey into a crystal cave deep within the earth.
A place of stillness,
Quiet reflection,
And steady focus.
Here,
Shimmering light reflects naturally from crystal to crystal throughout the cave,
Illuminating the space without effort.
Nothing needs to be forced.
Nothing needs to be solved.
Nothing needs to be figured out right now.
As the cave grows quieter,
What was once difficult to see may become a little easier to notice.
Throughout this practice,
I will guide you through gentle stages of awareness using breath,
Body scans,
Guided imagery,
And visualization.
There is no way to do this practice wrong.
You do not need to clear your mind or create a particular experience.
Simply allow yourself to become comfortable.
And let yourself be guided.
Let's begin by taking a quiet moment together.
Before we begin the practice,
We'll take a few centering breaths together.
You can rest your hands gently on your lap,
Or if you would like a mudra,
I offer you Adi Mudra,
Known as the gesture of primordial stillness.
To form this mudra,
Gently tuck your thumbs into the palms of your hands and softly wrap your fingers around them,
Creating a light fist.
There is no need to squeeze or create tension.
Allowing the hands to remain relaxed and at ease.
You can rest your hands softly on your thighs or knees with the palms facing downward.
Adi mudra is often associated with quieting the senses and turning awareness inward.
The gesture creates a feeling of containment and stillness,
Inviting the body and mind to settle away from external distractions.
In this practice,
Adi Mudra reflects the journey into the crystal cave itself.
A quiet sanctuary beneath the surface where mental noise begins to soften and awareness becomes more spacious.
Just as the cave remains calm and undisturbed while light reflects gently through the crystals.
This gesture invites a sense of inner stillness where clarity can emerge naturally.
Rather than searching for answers or forcing focus,
Adi Mudra reminds us that clarity often arises when the mind becomes quiet enough to listen.
You are welcome to listen to the affirmation silently or repeat after me two times.
I rest in stillness and clarity.
I rest in stillness and clarity.
I rest in stillness and clarity.
Now is a good time to set yourself up for our practice so your body can deeply relax while your mind maintains a light thread of awareness.
It can be beneficial to decide in advance whether you would like to use this practice for sleep or if your intention is to remain awake and aware.
In Yoga Nidra,
You are invited to hover in the gentle space between waking and sleeping,
Aware but deeply relaxed.
If you do drift in and out during the practice,
That is completely okay.
Trust that your body will still receive the benefits of the meditation.
Traditionally,
Yoga nidra is practiced lying down on your back in shavasana.
It can also be done in a seated position.
Either way,
You should be physically comfortable and in a space that minimizes distractions.
You're welcome to find a position that feels good for your body,
Perhaps on your back or on your side.
You can place a pillow or bolster beneath your knees and a cushion under your head.
It may be nice to make the room dark with a scarf or eye pillow.
You may want to cover yourself with a blanket.
Create a cozy space.
This is your rest nest.
Let's begin with a slow breath in.
And out.
Allow yourself to get comfortable.
Make any final adjustments to get as comfortable as you can.
Feel free to move or to adjust anything at any time during this journey to support your comfort.
Moving slowly and mindfully when you move.
Nothing to do and nowhere to be.
Becoming more aware now.
This is the practice of awareness.
Noticing your body resting.
Resting.
Aware of your breath.
Become more and more aware of each level of your being as you are guided through sensations,
Breath,
Thoughts,
And feelings.
Allow yourself to be the observer of all that you truly are.
The observer who is filled with compassion and acceptance.
Settle into your body.
Settle your body down into the ground.
Feel the ground underneath you holding and supporting you in your practice today.
Feel secure here.
Your body.
Your body on the ground.
Letting go into the ground.
1.
Allow your body to be heavy.
Feel your body.
Letting yourself sink down into the ground.
Letting go.
Two,
Feel your breath.
Feel it flowing through your body.
Feel your breath and its flow.
Breathe.
Allow your thoughts to settle.
Notice thoughts that are present for you right now.
Aware feelings and emotions.
Touching in with acceptance and kindness.
Four,
Let personality and the roles you play drop away.
Sensing your essence pure,
Clear,
And free.
Notice yourself as the kind observer who greets all that arises.
Five,
Notice a sense of joy.
Feel bliss.
Allow bliss to fill your body.
Bliss filling your whole being.
Imagine yourself now in a place that feels soothing,
Peaceful,
And calming.
Peaceful and calm.
This could be somewhere you know well or a place your imagination creates.
Perhaps you are outdoors in nature,
Near a meadow or the ocean.
Or maybe you are indoors.
Somewhere warm and comforting.
Surrounded by things that bring you ease.
Allow this place to become your own personal sanctuary.
Feel yourself here in your peaceful space.
Notice what is around you here,
The colors,
Light,
Textures,
Or the objects nearby.
Sense the atmosphere of this place and how it supports a feeling of comfort,
Security,
And ease.
Feel yourself resting here.
Supported and at peace.
Know that this place is always available to you.
At any time during the practice,
If something feels uncomfortable or distracting,
You can gently return here.
Simply remembering this space is enough.
This peaceful place lives within you.
Always here when you need it.
Begin to feel your breath.
Your natural breath.
Aware of breath in your chest.
The easy rise and fall of breath in your chest.
Now go inward,
Deep inside and notice,
What is my heart's deepest wish?
Let the answer come from your heart.
Now create an intention based on your heart's messages.
Allow a sankalpa to form.
This is a positive statement,
As though it is already happening in present tense.
A sankalpa is a heartfelt resolve,
A quiet statement of truth that supports your growth.
Something like,
I trust the clarity that emerges from stillness.
You can use this statement if you like it,
But if you heard your heart's wish,
Then state it three times silently to yourself as the truth.
Now let your awareness move through your body as you are guided.
Feel each body part,
Then gently move on to the next one prompted.
There is no need to concentrate or try too hard.
Simply noticing.
Center face.
Notice your jaw.
Lips.
Become aware of sensation in your mouth.
The other roof of your mouth.
Notice teeth.
Comes.
Tongue.
Sense taste in your mouth.
Now feel all of the parts of your mouth all together,
The entire mouth.
Now feel your nose,
Nostrils.
Feel your breath passing through the nostrils.
Aware of your sense of smell.
Feel your nose.
Notice your ears,
The wrinkles and folds of the ears backs of the ears.
Inner ear.
Aware of your ears receiving sound.
Now feel your eyes.
Eyelids.
Eyelashes.
Surface of the eye.
Behind the eye.
I second.
Feel the eyes resting softly.
Eyes radiant with quiet awareness.
Become aware of your forehead.
Space between the eyebrows.
Notice the crown of the head.
Back of the head.
Back of the neck.
Aware of the throat.
Notice the whole head.
The whole head and neck together.
Feel your throat center.
Become aware of both shoulders.
Arms,
Hands.
Palms.
Feel all of the fingers on both hands.
All of the fingers and the backs of the hands.
Feel now both hands alive with sensation.
Aware of the rest.
Forearms.
Elbows.
Upper arm.
Shoulder.
Notice both arms and hands together.
Vibrant.
Away.
Present.
Notice throat center once more.
Feel the chest.
Heart center.
Belly.
Notice shoulder blades.
Between the shoulder blades.
Ribs on the back.
Sense the low back.
Buttocks.
Become aware of your whole back.
Fuel the hips Thighs.
News.
Lower legs.
Ankles.
Notice the top of both feet.
Heal,
Souls with the feet.
Feel all of the toes.
Become aware of both feet together.
Feel both feet and legs together.
The entire lower body.
Now feel the torso,
Front and back.
Hands and arm.
Neck and head.
Feel the whole body now.
The whole body.
Notice the entire global feeling of the body.
Awake and aware in this resting body.
Become aware now of your natural breath as it flows through you.
No need to change your breath.
Feel your breath flowing easily and rhythmically through your body.
Feel the inhale arriving.
Feel the exhale leaving.
Nothing to change.
Nothing to control.
Simply noticing.
Now begin to notice the brief pause between the inhale and the exhale.
Notice the gap.
And begin to feel the pause between the exhale and the inhale.
Without holding or changing the breath,
Notice the pause between breaths.
A moment of stillness,
And then the next breath arrives naturally.
Inhale.
Exhale.
A moment of quiet.
Inhale.
Exhale.
A moment of stillness.
Like a crystal cave resting deep within the earth.
Unmoving.
Undisturbed.
Notice how the breath continues without effort.
The body breathing itself.
Awareness,
Simply observing.
And as you continue breathing,
You may begin to notice the spaces between thoughts.
Not trying to stop thinking.
Not trying to create a blank mind.
Simply noticing moments of spaciousness.
Like clear openings between passing clouds.
Or quiet reflections between crystals.
Breath flowing naturally.
Awareness becoming steady.
Calm.
Clear.
Just continue noticing your breath in this way on your own now.
Now you will begin to notice different sensations in your body as we move into the next stage.
Remember,
If at any point you would prefer something more familiar,
You are always welcome to return to your soothing place.
It remains here for you.
Steady.
Quiet.
Always available.
And now begin to notice your body.
Just as it is.
There may be areas that feel subtle.
And areas still holding tension.
There may be many sensations or very few sensations at all.
Nothing needs to change.
Nothing needs to be fixed.
Simply noticing.
And now become aware of the feeling of a busy mind.
A mind holding many thoughts.
Many responsibilities.
Many pieces of information.
Things to remember,
Things to plan.
Things waiting for your attention.
Like many tabs open at once.
One thought leading quickly to the next.
Notice how a busy mind feels in your body without judgment.
Without needing it to be different.
Simply noticing.
Noticing the movement,
The activity.
The fullness.
Feel the sensations of a busy mind.
And now become aware of the opposite experience,
A clear mind.
Not empty.
Not blank.
Simply Spacious.
Thoughts moving more slowly.
Nothing demanding your immediate attention.
A little more room between thoughts.
A little more space to breathe.
Like light reflecting quietly through crystal.
Clear,
Steady.
Open.
Notice how clarity feels in your body.
Feel the sensations of a clear and spacious mind.
And now slowly move between the two.
Busy and clear.
Cluttered and spacious.
Many thoughts and open awareness.
Busy and clear.
On your own now,
Moving gently back and forth between the two.
And now,
See if you can notice both together.
The mind capable of activity and still capable of clarity.
Thoughts present and space present as well.
Like clouds moving through an open sky or reflections moving through crystal.
Nothing needing to be pushed away.
Nothing needing to disappear.
Simply noticing that awareness is spacious enough to hold it all.
And perhaps noticing that clarity does not always arrive by trying harder.
Sometimes clarity emerges naturally.
When there is a little more space.
A little more stoner.
A little less noise.
And for a few moments,
Rest here.
Aware.
Spacious.
Clear.
With nothing required of you.
And now in your mind,
State silently to yourself,
I am awake and aware.
I am awake and aware in Yoga Nidra.
Awake and aware.
Use all of your senses to imagine these things as they are named.
Hear,
Feel,
Smell,
See.
Allowing each one to arise naturally in your own way.
There is no need to try.
Simply notice what comes.
Imagine the cool stillness of a stone cave.
Cool stillness of a stone cave.
Cool stillness of a stone cave.
Become aware of crystal formations catching soft light.
Crystal formations catching soft light.
Crystal formations catching soft light.
Notice the sound of a single drop of water echoing gently in the distance.
A single drop of water echoing gently in the distance.
A single drop of water echoing gently in the distance.
Imagine smooth stone beneath your fingertips.
Smooth stone beneath your fingertips.
Smooth stone beneath your fingertips.
Become aware of clear light reflecting through crystal.
Clear light reflecting through crystal.
Clear light reflecting through crystal.
Notice the feeling of spaciousness all around you.
Spaciousness all around you.
Spaciousness all around you.
Imagine the quiet that exists deep beneath the surface of the earth.
Quiet beneath the surface of the earth.
Quiet beneath the surface of the earth.
And now you are going on a journey,
A journey inward.
You may begin to see yourself from above or from behind.
Standing at the entrance of a crystal cave nestled into the side of a mountainside.
The air feels cool,
Calm,
Still.
Ancient stone surrounds the entrance.
Softened by time.
Inside,
A soft glow reflects outward from somewhere deep within the cave.
Not bright.
Not overwhelming.
Just enough to illuminate the path ahead.
You begin to walk slowly inside at your own pace.
The sounds of the outside world gradually fading behind you.
Each step carrying you deeper into stillness.
The stone beneath your feet feels smooth and steady.
Let the air cool against your skin.
The cave opening gradually around you.
Crystal formations emerge from the wall.
The ceiling,
The floor.
Clear crystals,
Pale blue crystals.
Soft silver reflections dancing across the stone.
Light moving quietly from crystal to crystal.
Without effort.
Without urgency.
The deeper you travel,
The quieter everything becomes.
Not empty,
Simply free from distraction.
No notifications.
No conversations.
No responsibilities needing your attention.
Only stillness and space.
As you continue walking,
You arrive in a larger crystal chamber.
The space opens around you.
Why?
Quiet.
Peaceful.
Crystal formations rise from the earth around you.
Some reaching towards the ceiling.
Others growing gently from the cave walls.
Light reflects through them in countless directions.
Soft and clear.
Illuminating the chamber without any single source.
At the center of the chamber is a smooth stone platform.
A place made for resting.
For pausing.
For simply being.
You slowly settle here.
Perhaps seated or lying comfortably upon the smooth stone.
The temperature feels perfect.
The surface beneath you completely supportive.
Nothing to hold.
Nothing to manage.
Nothing to solve.
As you rest,
You begin to notice something interesting.
The crystals do not create the light.
They simply reflect it.
And in the same way,
Clarity does not need to be forced.
Sometimes it appears naturally.
When the mind becomes quiet enough to notice.
The chamber remains still around you.
A soft shimmer moving through the crystals.
Occasionally reflections passing gently across the walls.
The distant sound of a single drop of water.
Echoing softly through the cave.
And perhaps you begin to notice a little more space between thoughts.
A little less urgency.
A little more ease.
Nothing needing to be figured out right now.
Awareness resting.
Quiet.
Clear.
Open.
And for a few moments,
You simply remain here.
Resting within the stillness of the crystal cave.
Allowing clarity to emerge naturally.
Like light reflecting through crystal.
Without effort.
Without force.
Remember now your sankalpa,
Your heart's wish statement.
The positive intention you set at the beginning.
State it silently now three times as the truth.
And your awareness remains here,
Quiet,
Spacious,
Clear.
The crystal chamber resting peacefully around you.
Soft reflections continuing to move through the crystals.
Light passing gently from one surface to another.
Nothing needing to be forced.
Nothing needing to be figured out.
You remained here for a few moments longer.
Resting within this stillness.
The distant sound of water echoing softly through the cave.
The cool air against your skin.
The quiet spaciousness all around you.
And perhaps you begin to notice that clarity does not always arrive through effort.
Sometimes it appears when there is simply enough space for it to emerge.
The cave remains unchanged.
Still.
Steady.
Patient.
And when it feels natural,
You can slowly begin to rise.
Making your way back through the crystal chamber the path familiar now.
Crystal formations continuing to reflect soft light all around you.
The cave opening gradually as you walk.
Moving at an easy,
Unhurried pace.
There is nowhere you need to rush towards.
Nothing waiting to be solved immediately.
Only a gentle return.
You begin to notice fresh air once again.
The wider landscape beyond the cave entrance.
The openness of the world around you.
And perhaps you notice the same sense of spaciousness remains available within you.
Not something you need to hold on to.
That's something you need to create.
Simply something that is still here.
Take a slow breath in.
And out.
And now you begin to return.
Gradually returning to the present moment.
Here in this room where you began.
Five,
Feel open,
Spacious,
At ease.
Aware of a quiet clarity still available within you.
4.
Become aware of yourself as the witness.
The one who has observed your body,
Your breath.
Your experience with gentle awareness.
3.
Begin to notice thoughts and sensations moving through awareness again like reflections passing across crystals.
To notice your breath.
Feel its natural rhythm.
Allow your breath to deepen slightly as your body gradually begins to reawaken.
One.
Now sense your body.
Feel the weight of your body resting Notice the surface beneath you,
Supporting you completely.
You are now completing yoga nidra practice,
Becoming slowly more awake and aware.
Take one final slow breath in.
And owl.
Fuel the steady support beneath you.
The rhythm of your breath.
The quiet presence of your body resting here.
You are welcome to remain here longer,
Resting deeply.
Or drifting softly into sleep if that feels right for you today.
Feel free to tune me out and continue resting.
If you are ready to reawaken,
Gently invite small movements back into the body perhaps softly wiggling your fingers.
Noticing sensation returning.
Bring awareness into your toes.
Softly moving your head side to side.
A gradual awakening.
Draw a deeper breath into your belly.
Into your chest.
Gently roll onto your side if that feels comfortable.
Press your hands into the floor and slowly rise to a comfortable seated position.
Lengthen your spine.
Perhaps a small stretch or a quiet yawn.
Take a full breath in.
And owl.
Notice how you feel.
Aware of the effects of practice today.
The crystal cave reminds us that clarity does not always come from searching harder.
Sometimes it emerges when we allow a little more stillness.
A little more space.
And a little less noise.
Even in the midst of daily life,
Moments of quiet awareness remain available.
Inviting you to pause,
Notice.
And return to yourself.
Bring your hands to heart center.
When it feels right,
Allow the eyes to slowly open to a soft gaze on the floor.
Bow to yourself in appreciation for practicing today.
The light in me sees and honors the light in you.
Namaste.
