Meditations Of Unlearning

Amy Aiko considers herself a conscientious objector to strict meditation rules. A granddaughter of a Japanese Buddhist, Amy is a sis-woman who has been meditating since 1999. She creates guided meditations for marginalized people so all may feel welcome and have access to the benefits of meditation practices. She has felt excluded from meditation practices because of cultural differences and hopes to reach those who feel discriminated against because of their racial or sexual identity in a meditation space. Amy has a personal interest in decolonizing meditation both as a queer person and someone whose parent was born in a Japanese incarceration camp and has suffered intergenerational trauma through internalized white supremacy and systemic racism.

Thank you so much! This was just what I needed to hear in today’s state of unrest. The journal prompt really helped me solve my inner conflict of how to resist but still not cause harm. Those who allow harm to be inflicted on others have joined the side of the oppressors. ✊

That was the most wonderful and refreshingly real meditation I’ve heard in a long time… cannot thank you enough. Felt like sitting with a kind friend / teacher… 💗

I wanted to thank you so much for this offering. I have always struggled to step into sadness, instead burying it, rarely crying. During this practice I was able to cry and find release as I know it's been building for a couple of weeks. Thank you so much for your beautiful voice, softness and guidance x

My go-to meditation when I’m sick. It’s short, gentle, and not stimulating and helps me ground in self kindness and not pushing my body. My favorite! Thank you.

I'm 7 months out from the death of my son, my husband has dementia and my daughter is setting healthy boundaries that change our dynamic and I feel alone. I liked accessing these feelings with you. It gives me a tool to access my grief and do find space for feeling ok. Thank you so much. You're beautiful
