Good morning my friend.
Thank you for spending these first few minutes of your day with me.
Before messages,
Plans,
Responsibilities and other people begin asking for your attention.
Allow yourself this small piece.
Of your morning.
Let your body be comfortable.
There is nowhere else you need to be just for these next few minutes.
Take a slow breath in.
And breathe out.
Feel the simple fact.
At you.
Are here.
The day has begun,
But you don't have to rush into it.
Just notice the support beneath your body and feel your hands resting Feel your feet.
And maybe notice the movement of your breath without trying to change it.
The mind may already be getting busy,
Things to remember,
Stuff to do.
Something from yesterday returning for another look.
But for now.
.
.
Notice that activity without climbing aboard it.
You have time.
Take another easy breath.
And as you breathe out,
Let your attention just settle back into this moment there is something really valuable about beginning the day before everything else gets to vote.
Before the phone tells you what happened overnight,
Before somebody else's message becomes the first thing on your mind,
Before today's tasks begin arranging themselves into a queue for you,
Just for these few minutes,
Your attention belongs to just you now.
Notice how that feels when there's nothing to respond to,
Nothing to check.
You have nothing to prove.
Just.
This brand new morning,
Just this breath.
Now bring to mind the day ahead.
Don't need to mentally live through the whole thing,
Just let the day remain where it is.
Ahead of you.
And ask yourself quietly.
What deserves my attention today?
Don't search for a perfect answer,
Just notice what comes.
It may be something practical,
It may be the way you want to move through the rest of the day.
It could be just simply remembering not to give every small thing equal importance.
Just let one answer be enough.
And now ask,
What can wait?
Will always be more things asking for your energy than you can reasonably give it to.
Some stuff can wait,
Some thoughts can wait,
Some messages can wait.
You are allowed to decide.
Feel your breath again,
In and out.
And out.
Imagine carrying a little space from this practice into the next part of your morning,
Not as a complicated routine.
Just that small gap between something asking for your attention and you automatically giving it away.
A message arrives,
A thought appears.
A task you may think of.
And there is that one breath before you respond.
That breath gives you a choice.
Is this where my attention really needs to go?
You don't have to start the day perfectly,
You don't have to feel completely ready and organised.
You only need to begin from here.
Take a slightly fuller breath in now.
And breathe out slowly.
Feeling into the body waking.
Notice the room around you and any sounds of this brand new day.
And before you move on.
Carry this thought with you.
I don't have to give my attention to everything that asks for it.
I don't have to give my attention to everything that asks for it.
Your attention is part of your life.
A treater is something that's worth protecting.
And begin the morning on your own terms.
And let the rest of the day just unfold from there.
Take one final breath.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes if they were closed.
Thank you so much for choosing to begin your morning with me.
And thank you for giving yourself this time.
Take good care of yourself today and have a beautiful rest of your day.
Go in peace.
Namaste.
