Hello friend,
And welcome to this meditation.
Find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down.
Once you're situated,
Feel free to close your eyes or softly lower your gaze.
Together,
Let's take a deep breath in,
And exhale.
Another deep breath in,
And release.
Give your body a little shake,
Loosen your shoulders,
Wiggle your fingers,
Maybe stretch your arms above your head.
Do whatever you need to do to get any excess energy out of your system,
And then gently slow your body back down,
And find stillness.
Mentally and physically communicating to yourself that it is time to pause,
That it is safe to be still,
And that for the next few minutes,
This is exactly where you need to be.
Another breath in,
And release.
My friend,
Every day that we sit down and spend time with our inner voice,
Is a day closer to the life that we imagine.
We all have goals,
Aspirations,
Visions that we aspire to,
And it's so easy to lose ourselves in the day to day,
And to forget to put the effort towards those goals,
Towards that life that we imagine.
These goals can be anything,
From physical goals,
Work-related goals,
But even emotional goals,
A goal of how you'd like to respond in a situation,
A goal around how you want to show up in a specific scenario,
Or maybe show up as a mother,
As a parent.
Those may not be traditional goals,
But they are important goals,
And something that we have to continue to work towards.
I ask you,
Friend,
What is a goal that you have?
What is a goal you'd like to reflect on today?
Deep breath in,
And release.
I invite you to notice how your body responds when you think about that goal.
Did your muscles tense up?
Did your heart begin racing?
Or maybe you felt more relaxed and grounded in the thought of that goal.
What could your body be saying to you?
What is it communicating about this specific vision,
This specific intention that you have?
Deep breath in,
And release.
I invite you now to consider the why behind this goal.
What is the bigger picture?
Why do you want to accomplish whatever it is you're hoping to accomplish?
Now,
When you think about that why,
How does your body feel?
Does it feel different than it felt when you simply considered the goal without the why behind it,
Without the bigger picture?
Deep breath in,
And release.
It is important when we consider our goals,
Our vision,
What we want for ourselves,
That we come back to the foundation of that goal,
The why behind it,
The bigger picture.
Without it,
We're purely relying on motivation to accomplish the goal.
But with the why,
There's something bigger pushing us forward,
Something larger that's helping us show up day to day.
There's a quote by Paulo Coelho that says,
Always ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
Always ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
Final deep breath in,
And release.
I encourage you to journal on your thoughts after this meditation.
Again,
Write down your why.
Write down the thing that will keep you going day to day when motivation is low.
