Welcome,
I'm Jocelyn.
This is a track about energy sketching.
I am a soul art guide.
I was an expressive art therapist for many,
Many years,
And I consider myself a creative midwife.
I am an author and an artist,
And I've been using different forms of visual art as a gateway into exploration,
Both on a visual sense as well as in a writing sense.
To go into depth of what I'm dealing with,
How to move through it.
So energy sketching is one of those beautiful skills that opens the door.
In soul art,
It opens the creativity door to your creative expression.
It is really simple.
For those of us who maybe start the day with a daily journal,
For those of us that already are checking in but with words,
Energy sketching is a beautiful alternative.
Because sometimes we have things going on that we don't have the words for.
That language doesn't hold.
It's maybe not there yet for us or language doesn't have the exact consonants,
Vowels,
Syllables,
All of that.
Sometimes we're feeling something and it's more of a movement.
It's more of a symbol.
It's more of a color.
So energy sketching is really simple.
You don't have to be an artist.
You just have to be able to tap into your own energy and allow it to flow out your hands.
In a way,
Energy sketching is similar to automatic writing,
But automatic writing is using language.
Energy sketching,
We're just using lines,
Gestures,
Even rhythm on paper can be used as energy sketching.
The one thing I'm going to talk about with automatic writing,
We're working towards writing and keeping your hand moving so that you can move past that inner critic,
Past that watcher at the gates.
In energy sketching it is a little bit easier because your eyes can be closed.
You don't have to stay on a line,
Right?
You don't have to look at your spelling or anything like that.
Your eyes can be closed and you can just let your hand move with the energy that is with you present.
You can also energy sketch with emotions,
With memories,
With challenges,
With obstacles.
You can energy sketch with ascended masters.
You can energy sketch your day.
You can energy sketch with your body.
So there's so many different uses and ways to use energy sketching.
And it is so simple.
Amen.
Or a marker or a watercolor and watercolor brush or a crayon or an oil pastel and paper.
It really doesn't matter.
If you're a parent,
You can go raid your child's art closet,
But you don't have to.
You can do it with a pen and a lined paper if you need.
That's all you need for this.
We're gonna energy sketch together.
I'm gonna show you a video of some energy sketches so that you can see that we're not creating something that goes on a wall,
Right?
We're not creating a big museum piece of art.
We're actually just conversing with the energy inside of us.
All right.
So let me show you some energy sketches.
Let me show you different kinds.
What I did say earlier was energy sketching can be a doorway into creative expression.
It can be a doorway into collage.
It can be a doorway into paint.
It can be a doorway into writing.
All of my pieces that you see here,
These all started with energy sketches,
With an intention,
With trying to get deep into something to understand what is really going on,
What's at the core,
And what do I need to do to move it,
To transform it,
To transmute it?
One of the other things you can do with energy sketches is you can neurosketch with it,
So you can take out all of the right angles.
And that is just a really relaxing,
Wonderful thing to do.
So if you're having one of those energy days and it comes out on your paper and is very angular,
You can take 10 minutes to start curving all the angles.
And it's just a meditative practice.
I tend to do that.
So a lot of my energy sketches that you will see have been curved around all of the angular pieces of it.
So here are some.
This is a daily check-in energy sketch.
This is done with ink.
I like to use ink and ink wells to create energy sketches.
You can also use watercolor,
Crayons,
Oil pastels.
These are markers.
These first two here are emotions,
Grief and fear,
And you can see the difference between them.
And then home,
The feeling of home.
I also did some work with the sacred feminine and here the sacred masculine.
And those had Neurosketch in them,
So they didn't have the angles.
And the next few are just ones where pictures came out of it,
Where I worked further,
Where I pulled out the pictures that I saw in the energy sketches.
This is one that was water colored.
You can also fill in your energy sketches with lines or with colors,
As you can see.
Energy sketching isn't some big thing.
It can be a beautiful entrance into the creative process.
It could be a beautiful entrance into just what is inside of me right now,
Or why do I keep feeling the sadness?
What's behind it?
What's the core of it?
Energy sketching can begin to open the doors for you to be curious,
To learn more,
To go deeper.
Now,
The process of energy sketching is really simple.
You're just going to close your eyes and breathe into whatever it is you want to energy sketch.
Like right now,
We'll do it together.
So just take a moment,
Close your eyes.
Take a breath into your belly.
And let it out.
And whatever is inside you,
Just let it be there.
Don't judge it.
Don't push it away.
Don't push it to the side.
Just allow it.
And you might even breathe into it.
And put your hands on your paper and just connect to your paper.
And with your eyes closed,
Pick up your pen or your marker.
Open it up.
And let your hand move across the page with your eyes closed.
We get to surpass easier.
The inner critic.
Now that you have created your energy sketch.
Just take a minute and look at it.
Turn it around.
Right side up.
Upside down on an angle to the side to the other side and see if you see anything in it do you see anything do you see any images do you see any symbols in your energy sketch Or maybe you see the beginning of a picture.
That maybe you could put a few marks in and it would move it into exactly what you want it to be or exactly what you see,
Or even just an essence of what you see.
Take a look closer at the parts of your energy sketch that you love.
You're called closer into,
Take that magnifying glass and look closer at that.
And then take a minute and step back and see the whole piece.
Now you might want to go further with your energy sketch.
You might want to collage with it or paint with it or write about what you see,
Right?
You can write with your energy sketch if you're used to automatic writing.
You can sit down and ask your energy sketch a question.
What are you telling me,
Right?
Where is the core of this?
And you can write about it or do another energy sketch.
You can breathe like your energy sketch breathes.
You can move like your energy sketch moves.
You can speak from that energy sketch.
You can have a conversation with it.
This is just the beginning.
The beginning is just getting comfortable with your instrumenting your hand,
Your hand on the page,
And allowing your hand to move.
Sometimes people do energy sketching with their non-dominant hand,
So if you're right-handed with your left hand.
Sometimes I do energy sketches with both hands,
And I'll do it with both hands as I have my eyes closed.
Sometimes people do it on large paper.
Sometimes people do it on copy paper,
Small paper.
There's no right or wrong way.
I hope you enjoyed this process.
I'm in the middle of putting together an energy sketching course to show you how you can go deeper into this,
To show you how you can move and really use this simple,
Simple process to dive deep,
To open the doors of curiosity,
To explore your inner world,
To create safety,
To bring into you a sense of calm.
So thank you so much for joining me.
I hope you enjoyed your energy sketch.
My invitation to you is for a few days in a row to either energy sketch first thing in the morning when you wake up,
If you're interested in your dream state or moving into your day in a new way.
Or to sketch at the end of the night.
And if you sketch at the end of the night,
I would say to just simply close your eyes and bring yourself backwards through the clock from the time you go to sleep.
Just hourly,
Like what happened at 7,
At 6,
At 5,
At 4.
Just quickly,
Just running through it.
Closing your eyes,
Be through that whole day.
Breathe and then let your hand go.
And I suggest you do it for two to three days and just see how it feels.
It's no different than writing in a diary or writing in a journal.
And you can always add your writing to that energy sketch.
So have fun.
Play a little.
Find your inner child.
Let it get out and across that page.
Let it express itself.
And have fun,
My friends.
Namaste.
