Come to a comfortable position.
Sitting or lying.
Let your hands rest softly.
Close your eyes.
And become aware of your physical presence.
You are in this body.
In this space.
And notice the weight of you.
The air surrounding you.
Any sounds you can hear.
Far away or close?
And take a breath in through your nose.
And hold it and then release it slowly.
And then just observe the nature of your own breathing.
Without judgment.
Notice how the breath comes into your body.
And where it stays and where it's comfortable.
And how it leaps.
You are part of something vast.
And I know that can sound abstract.
So we're going to make it feel real.
Bring to your mind somewhere in nature that feels like home to you.
It might be a real place.
Maybe somewhere you think you've been.
As a child.
Or recently somewhere you return to in your mind.
Or it might be entirely imagined.
A place your body knows even if your feet haven't been there.
See it now.
Picture yourself there.
What's beneath you?
Grass,
Ash,
Sam.
Moss.
Stern,
Still cold from the night.
What's the light doing here?
Early morning slanted.
Grey and soft.
Or bright and certain.
And what can you hear?
The wind in the leaves.
Water.
Bird's beginning.
The shush and suck of the water over the pebbles as the tide pulls back.
You're standing fully in this place.
And you're completely welcome here.
Nature never assesses you.
It doesn't need you to be more or less of anything.
You're just part of it.
As you always have been.
Take a breath and imagine it's not just air you're breathing in.
Who is this place?
The particular quality of hair.
The aliveness of it.
Breathe and draw it into you.
With each breath.
And in this place,
Notice something small.
Maybe a leaf or a stone.
A snail in its shell.
Maybe it's the sound of something moving at the edge of your awareness.
Just notice the perfection of it here in its place.
The world is always doing this.
Going about its extraordinary,
Ordinary business.
The season's turning.
The tides.
The slow,
Patient work of roots.
And you are part of that same system.
The same rhythms that move through the earth move through you.
Place your hand on the ground in this place if you wish.
Or simply feel the solidity of whatever is beneath you right now.
You are held by the earth.
Who always have been held.
You always will be.
And take three slow breaths here.
And with each one draw a little more of this place into you.
Let each one remind your body that you belong somewhere to something.
Always to the earth.
And when you're ready,
Begin to let the image soften.
Had it become just part of your aura?
Invisible in your energy field.
And come back to the rib.
Or the space that you're in.
And feel the weight of your body.
The warmth of your hands.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
Know that you carry that place with you.
And your connection to the Earth.
Thank you so much for sharing your space with me today.
Have a wonderful day.
