Hello,
And welcome to Play,
Making Space for Joy.
I am so grateful you're here.
This is an invitation to reconnect with yourself,
Not by doing,
But by listening.
Today we explore play not as something we schedule,
Or justify,
Or earn,
But as a natural expression of ease and aliveness.
This meditation is part of my Flow to Wellness collection,
A reflection of my own journey of healing,
Listening,
And learning how to be well.
May this offering support you as you begin or continue on your own Flow to Wellness.
Finding a comfortable place to land,
Seated or lying down,
Allowing your body to feel supported.
Take a moment to notice the surface beneath you,
The space around you.
Begin to breathe in and out through your nose,
Slow and steady,
And allow yourself to relax.
Simply arriving here is enough for now.
Play is often misunderstood as something frivolous,
Or optional,
Or only for certain seasons of life.
But the body understands play differently.
Play is not about performance,
It's about presence.
It's the body remembering how to move freely,
How to explore,
How to delight,
Without needing a reason.
Play doesn't need to be loud or energetic or outwardly expressive.
Sometimes play is subtle,
A smile,
A moment of curiosity,
A quiet sense of lightness returning to the body.
For a long time,
I believed joy had to wait.
That there would be time for play after responsibilities,
After healing,
After things felt settled.
But healing showed me something else.
Joy isn't the reward at the end.
It's part of what sustains us along the way.
When I allowed small moments of play without pressure,
Without explanation,
Something softened.
Laughter felt safer,
Curiosity returned,
And the body remembered that joy can exist right alongside seriousness,
Care,
And depth.
As we move into the meditation,
Take a moment to get even more comfortable.
As you breathe in and out through the nose,
Closing your eyes or softening your gaze,
Allowing the body to be at rest,
Allowing the breath to flow with ease.
Breathing in,
Creating a little space.
Breathing out,
Softening into ease.
No effort.
No forcing.
Just allowing yourself to arrive here,
In stillness.
You might imagine what it feels like to move through life with just a bit more lightness.
Perhaps there's a memory of laughter.
Or playfulness.
Or simple enjoyment.
Or maybe it's not a memory at all.
Just a feeling.
A soft curiosity.
A sense of openness.
Notice how the body responds when joy is invited,
Without demand.
There's no right way for joy to show up.
You're simply making space and letting the body decide what wants to enter.
Now allow the body to rest here,
Open,
Receptive,
At ease.
Notice where the body meets the surface beneath you.
The quiet sense of support.
The feeling of being held.
If the mind begins to wander,
That's ok.
Gently return your attention to the breath.
Again and again.
This returning is the practice.
If it feels supportive,
Gently remind yourself,
Joy is welcome here.
Play is welcome here.
They both belong to me.
Let the words land,
And then fade.
Rest here for a little while,
In the simplicity of breathing,
Of being,
Of allowing.
No effort.
No expectation.
Just space.
Resting here in stillness.
Begin to notice the breath again.
The gentle rhythm of the inhale and exhale.
Feel the subtle aliveness within the body.
A gentle brightness.
A soft openness.
When you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes,
Taking in the space around you.
Play is not something you outgrow.
It is something you remember.
May you notice moments of joy in unexpected places.
May lightness meet you gently.
And may play continue to soften your path as you continue on your very own flow to wellness.
