Hello and welcome.
Whether you're completely new to meditation,
Returning to your practice or simply feeling the need to slow down and reconnect with yourself,
You're exactly in the right place.
My name is Christina and I'm so glad you've found me.
My work is centred around helping people move beyond stress,
Overwhelm and disconnection.
Gently returning to a more centred way of living,
Reconnecting with mind,
Body,
Soul and self.
Before we begin the exploration of any of my practices,
I'd just love to share with you a little bit about what meditation really is.
You may have imagined meditation as something mystical,
Something reserved for monks,
Spiritual teachers or people sitting perfectly still with their legs folded and their hands arranged in special positions.
You might think meditation belongs to a particular region,
Religion,
Philosophy,
Spiritual path or only a particular kind of person.
But in reality,
Meditation is much simpler than that.
It's simply the act of choosing where to place your attention.
In fact,
We are already meditating all day long.
Reading a book can be a form of meditation.
Watching a movie is meditation.
Going for a walk and becoming absorbed in your thoughts is a form of meditation.
Even driving to work while replaying a conversation from earlier in the day and your attention is focused is meditation.
The mind is always thinking,
Processing,
Remembering,
Imagining and planning.
So the real question is not whether you meditate.
The question is what are you meditating on?
Over time we develop habits of mind.
Some people develop habits of worry.
Others develop habits of imagination or distraction.
Some fill their attention with stress,
Criticism or fear.
While others fill their attention with joy,
With love and with prosperity.
Meditation simply gives us the opportunity to guide the mind more consciously.
Instead of allowing our attention to be pulled in every direction,
We can begin to gently train it towards what is supportive,
Calming and beneficial.
Meditation helps us understand how our thoughts and emotions work.
It helps us cultivate steadiness within the mind.
And over time it allows us to develop healthier patterns of awareness,
Supporting our mind,
Body,
Soul and sense of self.
Meditation is not mystical.
It is not reserved for experts only.
And it certainly does not require belief in any particular religion or philosophy.
It is simply a practical way of reconnecting with yourself.
A pause in the busyness of life.
A moment to return to your breath,
Your body and your awareness.
You will notice that before we begin each of my practices,
We start by setting a simple intention.
Something like,
May this meditation help me become a calmer,
Kinder,
More centered version of myself.
This intention helps guide the practice.
And when we finish,
We will often take a moment to dedicate the benefits of your practice,
Not only to yourself,
But to the well-being of others.
Because the more centered and aware we become within ourselves,
The more we naturally bring that presence into the world around us.
So before you move on to your next practice or your first practice,
Just take a moment now and notice where you are.
Notice your body.
Notice any tension.
Is your jaw tight?
Are your shoulders tense?
Notice what's in your mind.
Any emotions.
Notice the space around you.
And then simply notice the fact that you are here,
Choosing to pause,
With nothing to change,
Nothing to fix,
Just here noticing.
So whenever you're ready,
Just please take time to explore some of my practices and allow this to become a space that you can return to,
To pause,
Reset and reconnect with your own center.
I look forward to sharing many more practices with you.
