Hello and welcome.
This meditation is about the exquisite rhythm of our breath.
Every day,
Human beings look for miracles to explain our purpose,
Yet the greatest miracle of all is already within us.
We breathe.
Take a deep,
Gentle breath in and slowly release.
Allow your body to soften,
Your mind to settle,
And your awareness just to land here in this moment.
The day you were born,
The very first question anyone asked you was not,
Who are you or what will you become?
It was one simple thing.
Are you breathing?
Because breath is life.
And at the other end of the journey,
When life comes to its close,
The same question is asked,
Are you still breathing?
Are you still breathing?
Our breath is the first note and the final note of the song of life.
Everything in between is carried by this rhythm,
Your own rhythm.
There is a lot of noise in this world,
Yet beneath it all,
There is a song being sung,
The lifelong song of the breath,
Flowing in and flowing out.
Unlike the many rhythms around us,
Sometimes chaotic,
Often out of sync,
There is one rhythm perfectly in tune with you.
That is the exquisite rhythm of your own breath.
Each breath is a blessing.
Each breath is a pathway.
Each breath is a reminder,
All is well.
So,
Take a deep breath in now and a slow breath out.
Your breath is your anchor,
It is your compass,
It is your calm in moments of stress,
Burnout or anxiety.
When the mind is noisy,
The breath brings us clarity.
When life feels overwhelming,
The breath brings us back to center.
So let's practice together.
We'll take a few rounds of gentle grounding breaths.
Breathe in slowly for a count to four.
Hold gently for a count of two.
And exhale softly for a count of six.
Let's do that again.
Inhale for four.
Hold at the top for two.
And exhale for six.
One more time now.
Inhale deeply,
Holding gently at the top.
And exhale fully.
Inhale for four.
Hold.
And exhale for six.
Notice how the rhythm of your breath just calms the rhythm of your mind.
Notice how peace expands with every exhale.
Our lives often feel like an ocean filled with waves of change,
Waves of joy and sorrow,
Hope and disappointment,
Clarity and confusion.
But just as a sailboat finds its direction through the wind,
We find ourselves through our breath.
It carries us across choppy waters,
Towards calmer seas,
Towards clarity,
Towards peace.
Your breath is always here for you.
Simple,
Steady,
Certain.
A reminder that your centre is never lost.
And if it is,
It's not far away to bring you back.
For it is always within you.
Take one last deep,
Nourishing inhale.
And a slow,
Grounding exhale.
As you return to your day,
Remember this truth.
When life feels overwhelming,
When stress or anxiety rise,
Just return to the exquisite rhythm of your breath.
For there you will find calm,
Clarity and your true self.
