It's the middle of the night and you're awake.

That's fine.

Sometimes it happens.

There may be some release of tension in your system going on that's so strong that it woke you up.

Know that it's a good thing that your body is throwing off stress and tension.

It could be that there's some very strong emotions present now.

Simply allow them to be there.

By being fully present,

Eventually they'll become less intense and dissolve.

If there's strong emotions,

Let yourself feel them in your body.

Feel them as bodily sensations.

It's natural if you're feeling emotional that your mind will start to try to explain it and try to do something about it.

But it's the middle of the night.

Something can get blown out of proportion and your mind can misinterpret things.

Just know that that's going on.

This is just the time for rest.

Simply be present to whatever is going on,

Not trying to do anything about it.

After some time it will just naturally subside.

When you let go of effort,

It's rustful for your system.

So even if you're awake,

Know that your body's getting deep rest.

Now is the time to not believe the stories of your mind.

Never a strong thought comes up.

Allow your awareness to go to your body,

To an emotion,

To a sensation in your body.

You can let go of the thoughts and have an easy focus on your body or on your breath.

If you'd like to,

You can bring your attention to your breathing,

Easily noticing the in and out of the breath and letting go of whatever else is happening.

See effortless awareness of the breath.

If there's anxiety present or some strong emotion,

Allow it to be there.

Just easily favor the experience of breathing.

If it helps,

You can take a nice deep breath.

Remember that everything will seem different in the light of day.

All of this will seem like a dream.

You may not even remember what you were thinking about.

Simply continue with an easy,

Open awareness of the breath.

This new event is excited for all.

You

This is my favorite thing to use when I wake up in the middle of the night. Your voice is so soothing and the messages that you give are so relaxing and makes so much sense. I like it that you stay right from the beginning that it's okay to be awake in the night. That starts me out with it really good attitude about what's going on. Thank you so much!

Wonderful. I was trying this out before I use it bc I need to make sure that all the words align with my beliefs. I put these meditations on repeat sometimes for 3 or 4 hours so I need to know that I truly believe what they are saying. I believe everything in your meditation and feel very comfortable with listening to it for extended periods. I love your meditations Mary, before I joined I.T. , about 10yrs ago I started listening to your guided meditations on an old Ipod. I had never done guided meditations before before but I got so I really liked yours and listened for years. This one certainly Did Not Disappoint. I have always loved your meditations and I guess I still do. Thank you so much Mary,I am truly grateful for what I have received from you over the last 10 years and now this. May God bless you and yours always. Maureen πŸ™πŸ™πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ•―πŸ¦‹πŸ•Š

I am grieving at the moment and this meditation has helped me so much in the middle of the night when I've woken and felt intensely sad. Mary's voice is so comforting and soothing and her words feel as if she has read my mind, saying just the right things to help me feel reassured and that I am not alone. Thank you.
