Hello and welcome to my garden.
I'm Zoe.
And welcome to this session.
Permission to pause.
So I'm wondering when was the last time you did nothing?
And Do overgiveyourself.
Permission just to simply be without needing to achieve anything at all.
I know I struggle to do this.
So today,
We're going to do nothing together.
No phones,
No exercise,
No learning,
Not even meditating.
We're just going to be.
So I know I do this every day in the shower.
After I've washed,
I just stand there and I let the warm water run over my body and I just stop.
With no expectations and no agenda.
Often in those moments that these unexpected things happen like creative things come up and I problem solve and I feel a lot calmer and clearer.
And it's not because I planned it,
But really because I didn't.
And in fact,
Today I came out into the garden just for a short break and I was just sitting here.
With no intention whatsoever.
And then this video idea came up.
And I'm just wondering if anyone else make space in their day just to do nothing.
Guilt free.
That's even harder.
And I really want to be clear,
I'm not promoting doing nothing as another productivity hack.
The ideas and insights are just a byproduct of doing nothing.
Sometime.
But I am promoting it because as whole human beings,
We simply can't afford.
To just keep going and going and going and going.
Because when we deprive ourselves of rest,
Dis-ease eventually shows up.
So we need both rhythms,
Periods of activity and productivity.
And periods of stillness.
And rest.
And they're not really opposites.
They belong.
Together.
So let's do nothing now together.
We're going to begin with.
.
.
Three or four.
Slow deep breaths,
Intentional breaths to settle in.
And then we'll just see what happens.
Okay.
So just find somewhere that you can be quiet and that you won't be disturbed.
And get comfortable.
And you're welcome to close down your eyes or keep your eyes open.
You might just wanna look around my garden.
Or perhaps you might want to just look beyond the screen into the environment around you.
Just get comfortable.
And then I think it's important just to acknowledge that we're going to do nothing and that's completely okay and fine.
Removing any sense of guilt and I know that's not easy but just planting the seed will help.
Okay,
So I'm just going to place one hand on my chest and one hand on my belly to connect in.
And then I like to close my eyes just to move a little bit inward.
And let's take a couple of deep breaths,
Just breathing in.
And breathing out.
Breathing in deeply and slowly.
Exhaling out.
Already I can feel a shift.
Another deep breath in.
Just feeling your body here.
Relaxing and settling in.
Maybe one more deep breath in.
And exhaling out.
And then you're welcome to keep your hands resting on your body or in your lap.
Eyes open or closed.
And we're just going to sit here.
And just be.
No agenda.
Nothing to do,
Nothing to achieve.
So you might want to take another deep breath in.
Placing the hands on the belly and exhaling.
If your eyes are closed you can blink them open.
And just notice how you feel.
Oh,
I know that I feel so different.
Feel a lot calmer.
I feel a sense of okayness.
Maybe in the comments you can let me know how you feel.
I'd love to hear from you.
And perhaps after this video finishes you could continue just sitting for a little bit longer.
And then include.
This in your everyday.
Just a couple of minutes a day.
Will make such a huge difference.
So thank you so much for coming on this journey with me of doing nothing.
And I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Bye.
