We often take ordinary things, like the start of a new workday, for granted. There are no reruns. Each moment comes and goes. None will come again. This practice offers three minutes to pause, experience gratitude and center. Start your day with appreciation and joy.

Hello there.

You made it to work safely.

Let's take a few moments just to pause and arrive in this space and time.

Let everything that came before now,

The traffic and bad drivers,

Let that fall away and take a moment to really set yourself up with some good intentions for the kind of day you'd like to have.

So maybe as we begin you'll have a deep breath or if that doesn't feel good in your body,

Maybe you'll take a moment to ground,

Noticing your bottom on your chair or your feet on the floor.

And really just allow yourself to arrive in this space as we begin.

You're here now.

Let this ordinary moment be one of celebration.

Breathe deeply and take it all in.

The blessing of having arrived safely,

Of departing from a place to call home.

Settle into the sacredness of this ordinary moment.

It will not come again.

And like everyone before it,

It will pass.

Let it not pass lightly.

Choose to notice and savor it as one slice of this whole sweet,

Swift life.

And give thanks.

Give thanks for health,

Even if it isn't perfect.

And thanks for second chances and sound sleep or even not so sound sleep.

Thanks for all the people who add so much to our lives.

Those who teach and heal,

Those who prepare food and serve,

Those who build and create,

And those who make us laugh as well as those who stick around even when we don't feel like smiling.

Let's give thanks.

And let's connect to the inspiration we need to add to the lives of others,

Each in our own way.

To honor our interdependence and foster the connections that help us all thrive.

To bring forth our unique gifts and talents and to do good work with an open heart.

Let us today be kind and patient,

Not only with others but with also ourselves.

We have been blessed to greet another day.

Let us greet it with appreciation and joy.

Because indeed,

This moment,

This life,

Though imperfect,

Is a moment of celebration.

Breathe deeply and take it all in.

This is your day.

Make the most of it.
