Hello and welcome to the session.
I invite you to take a seat or lay down and get yourself comfortable.
You can close down the eyes if you wish and take a deep slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
In a moment I'm going to share with you a question to contemplate and then we'll just sit in silence for a minute and let it percolate.
Then we'll talk about that question and just see where the discussion leads us.
This question and indeed all of the questions in this course are designed to be a catalyst for change,
A prompt that will help you reframe your thinking,
Help to consider new possibilities and approaches and to usher in a state of being that is more attuned with your highest calling.
I invite you to approach the question with an attitude of extreme openness,
One where for the duration of the session you welcome in and accept any and all responses that arise.
There are no right or wrong answers,
No good or bad thoughts,
Nothing for you to run from or move towards.
Just be open to whatever arises as it is for what it is in this moment without judgment or filter.
Because by doing so you'll be opening yourself up to the deepest and truest expression of wisdom and intuition available to you.
So let's just take a moment to sit with today's question.
What would be a sign to you that you've stepped into your brilliance?
What would be a sign to you that you've stepped into your brilliance?
So this idea,
This question,
This idea of stepping into your own brilliance and what sign would it be asks us a couple of questions.
It asks if we're going to be It asks if we can recognize what those signs would be and also it asks us to accept our brilliance and that it's possible to attain our brilliance.
So let's just speak to those aspects.
There's an idea and I believe this to be true that everyone is or has the potential to be an expert,
To be brilliant,
To be world leading at something.
Now that might sound ridiculously extreme.
There can only be so many people at the top of their game.
But if we reframe the idea of being at the top of their game to being living a self-actualized life,
Living their best life,
Then that is possible for everyone.
Now yes,
Some people have more opportunities.
They are born into luxury,
Into privilege and all of these things.
But regardless of your starting point,
Regardless of your life,
There are better and worse ways to live that life,
Right?
You might not be able to attain the same level as other people based on starting point and privilege and demographics and all of these things,
But you can step into your own brilliance,
Whatever that means.
And similarly,
If you compare yourself to other people's goals,
Then I guess the cliche example is like a professional basketball player,
Right?
Me personally,
I'm 35.
I am coordinated,
But I'm not tall and I don't enjoy basketball.
So for me to say that I'm going to be the best basketball player ever is ludicrous.
But what is my brilliance?
Well,
I'm very good at poetry.
I do these sort of talks here on Insightama,
Talking and sharing wisdom.
And there's a variety of other things that could quote unquote count as my brilliance.
And the more people I talk to in a teaching and coaching space,
The more people I interact with,
The more I become aware that everyone has a space or a point of brilliance,
Of actualization,
Something that they can do better than other people,
Or at least something that they enjoy that is their version of success.
But most of the time people sort of hold back.
They don't go for this goal.
They are afraid.
They don't try.
They don't believe it to be possible.
They're not aware that they should even give it a shot.
And I think that's partly the reason why there's so much depression,
So much lax of satisfaction,
Anxiety.
Most everyone is living a life that they're just not quite happy with.
It's like life sets up boxes and we just hop into that box and never consider even getting out of the box,
The box of school into further study,
Into full-time work,
Into marriage and kids,
Into perpetuate the class and social and societal-based stereotypes of your demographic.
But that's not real.
That doesn't have to be followed.
That's just a possibility,
Right?
I would argue that there is an opportunity for you to step into your brilliance,
For you to be more than what you are,
Or to embody the highest truth,
Highest potential,
Highest purpose.
The first step is to acknowledge that that place exists.
And it might be a few more steps down the path that you're already on,
Or it might be a completely changing path,
Or turning around entirely.
Who and what you are and where you're headed is up to you.
I've spoken in this course and in other areas about this distant mountain,
Your highest values and dreams and goals like a distant mountaintop.
And the first part of getting to the summit is to realize that that mountain is there,
Then to figure out which direction it is in,
And then to start walking towards it.
You know,
Only then will you even reach the base camp of that mountain,
Right?
So for me,
One of my points of brilliance is fiction writing.
I'm going to write a bunch of fiction.
I've written some,
But I know that moving forward,
I'll be writing more.
But I know that that's a distant mountaintop that I'm heading towards.
I'm at base camp.
I'm just starting out.
I'm aware that that's a mountain I'm going to climb.
So for you,
I would suggest that you need to recognize that a point and a place of brilliance is available to you.
This could be an internal state.
It could be an external state.
It could be something that you're moving towards.
It could be a goal.
It could be work.
It could be family.
It could be hobbies.
It could be anything.
It could be a combination of it all,
Spiritual practices.
But the question is,
What would be a sign to you that you've stepped into your brilliance?
How would you know that you've stepped into your brilliance?
How would you know that you've been successful on this?
How would you know?
Well,
What would stepping into your brilliance feel like?
There would be a level of excitement,
A level of joy,
A level of positive apprehension,
A level of meaning fulfillment,
A satiation of questioning,
A focus point.
How would you know that you're moving towards this mountain,
This higher goal?
Things would start to line up for you.
Yeah,
You'll still have challenges.
Yes,
Life would still happen,
But you'd have a purpose to move through and beyond.
If we take the analogy of a game,
Say basketball,
What's the goal of basketball?
It's to get the ball through the ring and stop them getting the ball through the ring,
Right?
But you're able to act in that space and do it brilliantly because there's a clearly defined goal.
A win condition,
A victory condition is scoring more points than the opponents.
Cool.
But what is life's win or life's victory condition?
We're talking about the meaning of life now.
If you haven't set or defined or worked out your goal or a goal,
And we can talk about the journey being the goal,
The journey is the destination sort of thing,
And that's a separate discussion.
But if you're not even on the path or you're not taking that journey,
If you're not walking towards the distant mountaintop,
Things can feel pointless.
It's like,
Why should I get up and try?
Why should I push through this problem?
Why should I care?
Well,
You care because you're stepping towards your brilliance.
The fact that you care about life is a sign that you've stepped towards your brilliance.
Do you know what I mean?
That's something to really consider.
That's something to be aware of.
That's something to hold in mind.
If you were stepping towards your brilliance or stepped into your brilliance,
You would care about things.
You would care about the outcome.
You'd push,
You'd drive,
You'd get up with a purpose and a point.
It's easy to coast.
It's easy to just exist.
But it's a bit of effort to actually step into your brilliance.
Because you're going to have to let go of some bad habits.
Maybe some people in your life that are not necessarily toxic,
Definitely let go of those.
But people that aren't sort of in line with you,
That aren't willing to walk that path with you.
Now,
You'll all be walking separate paths,
But your path and my path might be walking in the same general direction.
One of the sad things,
Or not necessarily sad,
Sad's the wrong word,
But more like things you have to come to term with is the loneliness of brilliance,
The loneliness of success.
Because the further you go down these paths,
The more you realize just how unique and individual you are.
Now,
You will find people along the way that resonate with you,
But there is a step and a place inside that you have to do it alone.
You have to find your brilliance by yourself,
Because it is unique solely to you.
Now,
This isn't a bad thing.
Once again,
I've spoken in this course and other areas about becoming your own best friend and sitting in silence with yourself and all these things.
That's important to be able to do,
Because it's only from that place of the self can you really attain the highest calling.
So I ask you,
Can you attain the highest calling?
What would be a sign to you that you've stepped into your brilliance?
What would be a sign to you that you've stepped into your brilliance?
So,
Well done.
This brings us to the end of the session.
At the bottom of your screen,
You'll see the option to view the classroom or to ask a question.
Before moving on,
I invite you to take a moment to click through and share your insights,
To read the answers from other students and to hear my replies.
Remember to start your responses by restating the question,
So we know which ones you're referring to.
This is an opportunity for deep learning,
Further introspection and insight,
So please don't miss out.
I look forward to seeing you in the next session.
Thank you.
