Welcome to another episode of Silent Superheroes,

Where we use the power of calm breathing to get real-world superpowers.

So take a seat,

Get comfortable,

And take a big slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

You know,

There's one thing that is really hard to deal with sometimes,

And that's called boredom.

Do you know what boredom is?

Boredom is that feeling that you get when you just don't have anything to do.

You've maybe finished doing one thing and there's a bit of a gap in time before you do something else,

And you're just waiting,

And you get a little bit frustrated.

And then maybe you start poking around and bouncing around or getting a little bit crazy.

Maybe you start bothering your siblings,

Like your brother or your sister.

You're poking them a bit.

Maybe you start poking mum or dad or your carers.

Maybe you start yelling for food or for cartoons or for video games.

Because that feeling,

That boredom,

Can be quite annoying.

It's just frustrating.

You just don't know what to do with yourself.

Well,

The good thing is that with the power of silent,

Calm breathing,

You always have something to do.

Here's a little secret.

When if you're bored,

You can do some slow,

Calm breaths.

Let's try one right now and then I'll tell you why.

So a lot of the time we get bored,

Not because there's nothing to do,

But because we think there's nothing to do.

And there's a big difference there.

I bet if you look around your house or wherever you are right now,

You could probably find a bunch of different things that you've played with in the past.

Maybe there's some toys.

Maybe there's something to draw on.

Maybe there's some squares in the tiles on the ground that you could jump and play leapfrog or balance beams.

I'm sure that there's something going on somewhere near you that you could occupy your time with.

But when you're bored,

For whatever reason,

It can seem like these aren't good ideas.

So if you're looking around,

If you feel that boredom and you're like,

There's nothing to do,

Take a big slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth and then try again.

Let's do three breaths right now.

Okay,

So I want you to take a little look around yourself right now and see all of the different things that you could do.

And if you're still not sure of what to do,

Why don't you ask someone and say,

Hey,

I'm a little bit bored.

What can I do right now?

And then with your listening ears,

You'll listen to what they say.

They might give you a couple of ideas.

And if you say no to each of them,

That suggests that you're still not calm.

Because if you were calm,

One of those ideas would be a good idea.

Or you would have found your own idea to do.

Because remember,

There's so much stuff to do in your house.

There's so much stuff to do at your kinder or school or wherever you are.

There's so much stuff to do because you've done so much stuff in the past.

You've had fun doing stuff in the past.

So if your parents or your carers or your teachers are suggesting stuff to you,

And you're going,

No,

And you can't see them for yourself either,

That's another sign that you need to take some more calm breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth and take another look.

Let's do another breath now.

So,

If you've found something to do,

Go and do it.

Go and have a lot of fun.

And if you still don't have anything to do,

Just do some more calm breaths.

You can always do calm breathing because your breath is always with you.

So whether you're feeling bored or angry or sad or scared or tired or whatever it is,

You can always take some calm breaths.

So if there's nothing else to do,

You can do some calm breathing.

Great work.
