And welcome to Calm Kids.
Today we're going to be playing a game called Silent Sneaky Superheroes.
Now to play this game you're going to need a partner and a little bit of room.
So why don't you find yourself someone to play with and maybe put yourself up in a hallway or an empty room or maybe outside if you've got some space to do so.
Now the way we play this game is pretty simple.
One person is going to be the meditator.
Their job is to sit down on the ground and do some slow calm breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Let's just give that a try super quick.
Okay,
Now as you're doing those slow calm breaths you need to listen really carefully to hear if the silent sneaky superhero is moving.
If you think they're moving you're going to turn your head and take a look.
If you catch them in the act,
If you catch them moving,
You say,
Hey I saw your hand moving or I saw your chest moving or I saw you taking a step.
And if you catch them moving you send the silent sneaky superhero back to their starting position.
Now the job of the silent sneaky superhero is to creep,
Creep,
Creep,
Move,
Move,
Move ever so slowly,
Ever so silently and their job is to tag the meditator gently on the shoulder without getting seen.
If the meditator turns around they have to pause in place and be super still and not move.
They can blink or move their eyes of course though.
When the meditator turns away they keep getting closer and closer until they can tag the meditator on the shoulder.
But if they get caught they go back to the starting position.
But if they get all the way up and tag the meditator on the shoulder without getting seen moving,
They become the meditator.
And that's how you play the game.
So let's give it a try right now.
Choose one person to be the meditator and choose the other person to be the silent sneaky superhero.
Don't worry about who goes first because you're both going to have a turn at doing both roles.
So the meditator is going to take a seat with their eyes closed,
Facing the wall,
Looking away from the silent sneaky superhero.
And then they're going to take some slow calm breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth,
Get themselves super relaxed because that's the best way to spot a silent sneaky superhero moving,
And then they're going to say go.
When they say go the silent sneaky superhero is going to creep,
Creep,
Creep all the way up and try and tag the meditator on the shoulder.
If the meditator turns around they've got to pause.
If the meditator catches them moving they get sent back to the start to try again.
Are you ready?
Let's give it a try.
Remember the meditator is doing some slow calm breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth in order to be as relaxed as possible so they can best hear the silent sneaky superhero sneaking.
And you silent sneaky superheroes,
You've got to be as calm and as silent as possible if you want to get all the way up to tag the meditator on the shoulder.
Remember if the meditator turns around you've got to freeze.
And if they see you,
Say good job and just go back to the start and start again.
Now you guys can play this game,
Silent sneaky superheroes,
Anytime.
It's a great way to calm yourself down,
It's a little bit of fun,
And it teaches you the benefits of calm breathing and mindful listening.
By doing slow calm breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth,
Your body starts to calm down,
Which calms down your mind and allows you to regulate your body systems.
And because the game is fun,
You have the ability to lose yourself in it and just laugh and enjoy the play.
And the silent sneaky superheroes,
You've got to learn to be in control of your body,
To make as little noise as possible,
And to freeze when the meditator turns around.
This teaches you body control,
It teaches you to calm yourself down,
And it teaches you focus.
And all of these things are great,
But once again it's super fun to be the silent sneaky superhero.
And I encourage you to play this game whenever and wherever you like,
With your parents or with each other.
Now,
I'm going to stop talking and you can continue playing this game,
And if you haven't already,
Switch roles.
So if you were just meditating,
Switch over and you become the silent sneaky superhero.
And if you were just the silent sneaky superhero,
Switch over so you're the meditator.
Remember,
The meditator's job is to be as quiet and calm as possible,
Doing slow calm breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth,
And listening very carefully for the silent sneaky superhero.
And the silent sneaky superhero,
Your job is to creep creep creep,
Silently silently quietly quietly,
All the way until you can gently tag the meditator on the shoulder.
If you do,
You switch roles,
But if they turn around and see you moving,
You go back to the start and start again.
