If you're joining us it must be bedtime.
Or maybe you're here because you need some time to chill out and calm a fizzy mind.
Whatever brought you here,
I'm glad you're here and you're very welcome.
We are about to go on a sleep journey.
So get yourself cosy and settled in bed or wherever you find yourself and let's get ready for a journey that will gently guide you into deep sleep and happy dreams.
My daughter Autumn and I created these sleep journeys because she found it hard to sleep.
When it came to bedtime she would have so many thoughts racing around her fizzy mind.
Do you feel like that sometimes?
I know I do.
There is a lot going on in our world and a lot going on in our heads so it's important to take this precious time to explore how it feels to be calm and to be still and that will help us to feel really,
Really sleepy.
Okay Autumn,
Where are we going tonight?
Let's go up into space.
Come on then,
Let's get you ready for your journey.
Lie down,
Get yourself snug and settled.
You can use pillows or blankets to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
Take a moment to find your most cosy position and when you're there close your eyes.
Enjoy just being in this stillness.
It gives us time to notice what we're thinking and feeling.
Oh my goodness,
The sleep magic has already started.
There it is on the tip of your toes.
Your sleep magic is ready to spread through your body and help you drift away on your sleep journey.
So let me teach you how to fill your body with sleep magic.
Let's start by curling your toes under your feet like you're making a fist with your foot really tight.
Pour that sleep magic into your foot.
Okay now relax and wriggle all your toes.
Let your sleep magic fill through your foot.
Let's give your foot a nice stretch.
Let your sleep magic flow up into your legs by giving your legs a lovely stretch too.
And then relax and let your legs flop and fall wherever is comfortable for you.
Let the sleep magic flow through your body into your bum bum,
Into your back and as it reaches each part of your body you'll notice how your body relaxes and how it feels so calm.
Let's pull the sleep magic into our arms and hands by clenching your fists really tight.
How does that feel?
Pull it tighter and then let it all go.
Give your fingers a wiggle and notice how different your hands and fingers feel as the sleep magic arrives.
Okay now we have an important job to do.
Stretch your arms out by your sides,
A big stretch,
Letting the sleep magic flow through your arms and with all your fingers stretched out wrap your sleep magic over your body by making a big circle and wrapping yourself up in a big cuddle.
You have created a protective shield with your sleep magic.
You are so safe within your shield.
Nothing can harm you no matter where you are right now and no matter where we may find ourselves on our sleep journey.
You are safe.
Enjoy giving yourself a big cuddle.
Whisper to yourself,
I can achieve anything and then loosen up your arms and let your hands fall wherever is comfortable to you.
Your sleep magic has slowly moved up through your neck so let's bring it into our faces by scrunching up your mouth and your nose and pulling a really funny face.
Screw up your eyes too,
Let's look really crazy.
How does your face feel when it's all scrunched up?
Okay now release.
How does your face feel now it's full of sleep magic?
Now with your eyes closed let's fill our heads with sleep magic by gently rocking your head from side to side like you're saying no and gently nod up and down like you're saying yes and let your head rest back onto your pillow or wherever is comfortable for you.
Wow your body is now full of sleep magic and it is making your body feel so heavy and you sink deeper into your bed and your head is so heavy it sinks into your pillow and you feel so calm,
So comfortable,
So safe and so sleepy and you feel your body getting heavier and heavier and sinking deeper into your bed.
Let's take this moment to notice how you are breathing.
Notice how your tummy is rising up and down as you breathe in and out.
Let's take a big deep breath in and fill your tummy with air.
Now blow it out as slowly as possible.
Okay let's take another breath only this time I want you to gather up anything that happened today that upset you or worried you or made you feel angry or frightened and let's blow it all out.
We don't want it in our body weighing us down so breathe in and breathe out blowing all those feelings out.
Whenever we have those feelings of upset or anger or worry know that you can take control of those emotions by taking these slow deep breaths and let the breaths make you feel calm and supported.
So let's take another deep breath and blow out all those negative thoughts from your head and your body.
Breathe in and blow it all out get rid of them all and as you continue with your deep breaths you'll notice how your tummy is expanding with the intake of breath.
It makes me think of my tummy as a balloon.
Imagine your tummy is a balloon too and as we take another slow deep breath fill your tummy with air and imagine you are blowing up a huge balloon.
Now slowly blow all that air out of your tummy like you're deflating your balloon.
Let's try again only this time when you blow up your balloon I want you to imagine in your mind what colour your balloon is any colour you like it's your balloon.
Let's go take a slow deep breath in fill your tummy with air there's your balloon what colour is it and blow all the air out of your tummy as you blow all the air out of your balloon.
What colour was your balloon whatever colour you chose that's your special colour and whenever you think of that colour I want you to remember your balloon and our deep breaths together and how calm those breaths made you feel.
So let's take another deep breath filling your balloon with air and blow all the air out and as you blow all the air out of your balloon you feel your bed begin to float.
Your balloon is pulling your bed up into the air it is the most wonderful sensation.
Let's take another slow deep breath fill your tummy with air fill your balloon with air and as you blow it all out you feel your bed float higher and higher guided by your balloon and as your bed floats it gently rocks you and it feels so soothing and you're not afraid because you know you have your sleep shield wrapped around you.
You are safe.
Continue with your deep breaths filling your balloon with air and as you blow the air out feeling your bed float higher and higher into the enchanting night sky.
The stars twinkle so brightly so happy to see you and you enjoy floating amongst them feeling their shimmering light shining down on you but this isn't where we're going tonight.
We are floating higher higher and higher as we continue our deep balloon breaths.
We are floating through the night sky weaving through the sparkling stars that fill the sky with glitter.
We look below us and there is earth our planet now so far below us through the beautiful white clouds that swirl around it we can make out the brilliant blue seas and oceans that cover so much of its face and we can roughly make out the outline of countries and continents if you look closely enough you might even be able to see home.
We float up higher and higher up through the sky up through the stars.
A flying saucer rockets towards us wibbling and wobbling along its path and inside the saucer is a bright friendly face giving us a wide toothy grin.
I want you to take a moment to visualize in your mind your new alien friend.
Paint a clear picture of them in your mind.
They could be bright pink or covered in crazy purple stripes.
They could have one arm or they could have 15 arms.
They could have one goggly eye or they could be covered in a hundred tiny eyes.
You decide.
Take a moment to see them clearly in your mind and when you have that picture of them in your mind let's follow your new alien friend as they guide us through space.
We are floating through the stars getting a really close look at them.
We can see they are balls of fiery gas burning so hot and bright.
There are stars everywhere as far as the eye can see.
We notice three stars grouped together shining brightly and we realize it's Orion's belt.
The constellation of stars surrounding it create the shape of Orion the hunter.
He swipes his sword through the sky and waves hello to us with his strong arm and we feel so protected by the stars surrounding us.
And a shooting star flies over us and you make a wish on your shooting star.
Go on make a wish.
And there is another shooting star zooming through the sky.
But this one is different because it has a long tail.
It is a comet.
It is a big ball of ice flying through space.
We follow our alien friend up onto the moon.
We explore the enchanting rocky moon and discover its light faces and dark faces,
Its craters,
Its holes.
We discover the sea of serenity and the sea of tranquility.
We find the footprint of astronaut Neil Armstrong,
The first human footprint on the moon.
And we remind ourselves I can achieve anything.
We follow our alien friend further through the galaxy.
In the distance we see the sun before us,
The heart of the solar system.
It is a huge spinning star,
A radium ball of glowing gases and its light and warmth guides us through this magnificent solar system.
Our alien friend takes us to meet Mercury and we watch it speedily orbit the sun.
And as we move on we feel the heat radiating from the hottest planet in the solar system,
Venus.
And we feel so toasty and cosy.
And our alien friend guides us onwards towards Mars.
We swoop down and take a closer look at this fascinating planet,
All red,
Dusty and desert like.
And here comes the king of all the planets,
The largest of them all,
Jupiter.
Red and yellow clouds whirling and swirling around it.
And beyond it is Saturn,
Its distinctive dazzling ring made of millions and millions of icy rocks.
And you can see that some of these rocks are as small as grains of sand.
And some are as big as buildings.
Our alien friend leads us further on our journey.
And now we approach Uranus and marvel at how it is spinning on its side in a unique tilt.
And we have reached the final planet,
Neptune,
The furthest away from the sun.
We are full of wonder for this dark and stormy planet,
Supersonic winds whipping around it.
And as our alien friend direct us on further through our solar system,
We see floating towards us is an international space station.
We peek through the window and see it is full of astronauts all exploring the solar system and beyond.
And you realize that could be you one day.
If you continue to dream and work hard and believe in yourself,
You can achieve anything.
Our alien friend leads us further on this fascinating journey.
It is so peaceful up there,
So tranquil,
So calm.
And our alien friend turns and waves goodbye with another huge toothy smile.
And we watch their flying saucer zigzag through the vast cosmos.
We flew on and on,
On and on,
Back through the solar system,
Through the Milky Way,
Through its hazy band of light,
Through galaxies far,
Far away.
We flew on and on,
On and on,
Floating so peacefully.
Until here we are,
Back in our own surroundings,
Back where we first began.
Only this time it is different because now we feel so safe,
So still and so sleepy.
And you're not disappointed to be back because you know you can return to our journey whenever you want to,
Whenever you need to.
It is yours,
Your special place.
And you know exactly how to get there by filling your body with sleep magic and practicing your balloon breaths and using your imagination.
