I Can Climb This Mountain
Sometimes we face challenges that feel impossible to overcome, and that little voice comes into our head and tells us we will never overcome this challenge, we will never climb this mountain. Well, on this journey 'Your Floating Bed' arrives at a difficult Mountain Climb and explores ways of approaching those challenges, and of overcoming obstacles.

So,
Sometimes we find ourselves facing challenges,
Don't we?
And those challenges can feel unachievable,
Beyond our capabilities.
And we hear a voice in our head,
Telling us we can't do it.
We won't be able to achieve it.
We should just give up.
Can you think of situations that have made you feel that way?
Challenges you've struggled with?
For me,
I recently created a website for your floating bed,
Which initially,
I just felt completely out of my depth.
It felt unachievable,
As I'd never done anything like that before,
And I'm not very good with anything techy.
And the voice in my head just told me it's not for me,
That I won't be able to do this,
And I should just give up.
I think we've all been in situations like that.
Maybe there's been times at school,
Maybe with tests or exams or other challenges.
But what I want you to do is whenever that voice pops into your head,
I want you to shout back at it,
I can do it.
I can do it.
I can do it.
Because you absolutely can.
You brilliant lot can achieve anything.
Sure it might take extra effort and hard work,
But you can do it.
If I can make a website,
You brilliant lot can achieve absolutely anything.
And so this journey is about prepping us for those big challenges,
Which feel like huge,
Mountainous hurdles in front of us.
But we never give up.
We believe in ourselves.
And we climb any mountain.
So let's start by taking a gentle inhale,
Maybe a yawn,
But breathe in and exhale.
Breathing out really gently and just letting everything go.
And listen to the sounds around you.
What can you hear?
Maybe distant traffic,
Voices in the next room.
Listen.
What can you hear?
What can you smell?
Smell of your bedding or your clothes,
The lingering smells of dinner.
What can you smell?
And what can you feel?
Your clothes against your skin.
The surface that you lie or sit upon.
A mattress,
The floor,
A chair.
How do they all feel?
And take another inhale,
Breathing in,
Filling your tummy with air and exhale.
Breathing out really gently and ask yourself,
How am I feeling?
How am I?
We experience a lot of emotions and they come and go and they all belong,
But we can't always describe them.
But maybe you can think of one word that could express how you're feeling.
Maybe a sound.
Maybe a colour.
Or maybe there's a facial expression you could pull to express how you're feeling.
When we take the time to think about how we're feeling,
We can deal with those feelings way more effectively and we can express ourselves better,
Treat ourselves better and treat others better.
Breathe in,
Filling your tummy with air,
Like you're filling a balloon with air.
And exhale and imagine your balloon deflating as you let all of that air go.
Breathe in,
Fill your tummy with air,
Like you're filling a balloon with air and your bed begins to float.
Exhale releasing all of that air and imagine yourself floating higher and higher,
Hovering around the room,
Floating up,
Up out of the roof,
Up into the sky,
Floating through the air,
So light and carefree.
Imagine you float on and on,
Over your house,
Over rolling hills,
Over the coastline,
Going up up higher into the sky.
Imagine yourself floating amongst the clouds,
Floating up higher amongst the stars,
Floating on and on,
On and on.
And you land in a huge dense forest.
Imagine the forest before you,
The trees rising high,
High into the sky all around you and you feel overwhelmed by its height and density.
And the only way is through this dense dark forest and you do not think you'll find your way.
You fear you'll get lost.
You think you should just give up and run away.
You stop,
You take an inhale,
Breathing in,
Fill your tummy with air and slowly exhale,
Blowing away all of those negative voices and you tell yourself,
I can do it.
And you put one foot in front of another and you enter the forest and you walk amongst the trees and you feel the foliage all around you,
The trees luscious leaves hanging down over you.
And you no longer see this forest as a challenge,
But you see its beauty all around you.
And with every step you admire the trees sturdy trunks,
Their elegant long finger like branches growing overhead.
The differing shades of green of the leaves,
Jade and emerald,
Olive and lime.
So many colors around you.
And overhead the sun breaks through the leaves,
Delicate rays of golden light reaching the forest floor.
And you enjoy walking through the forest.
It is no longer a challenge.
And you find your way out of the forest and you arrive at the foot of a mountain.
Picture the mountain above you,
Paint the picture in your mind.
And you have to climb this mountain,
But you can't see the peak of the mountain.
It is so high up,
So far away,
Hidden in the clouds.
How can you climb this mountain if you can't even see its peak?
It feels unachievable.
You won't be able to do it.
But you stop.
You take an inhale,
Breathing in,
Filling your tummy with air.
And gently exhale,
Blowing away all of those negative voices.
And you tell yourself,
I can climb this mountain.
And you put one foot in front of another and you begin to climb.
And you find yourself on a rocky surface.
It's hard and sharp under your feet,
Crumbling away with every step.
It is so difficult to climb this mountain.
And you feel like you can't go on.
You think about giving up,
But you stop.
And you take an inhale,
Breathing in,
Filling your tummy with air.
And gently exhale,
Blowing away all of those negative voices.
And you tell yourself,
I can climb this mountain.
And you persist.
And you continue to climb the mountain.
And as you climb higher,
The mountain becomes very steep and slippery,
Like a vertical climb.
You can't get your footing.
You're struggling to hold on.
And you think you can't go on.
You convince yourself you can't climb this mountain and you should just give up.
But you stop.
And you take an inhale,
Breathing in and filling your tummy with air.
And you exhale,
Blowing away all of the negative voices.
And you tell yourself,
I can climb this mountain.
And you put one foot in front of another.
And you climb higher and higher.
And as you climb higher and higher,
Up the mountain,
You find it's covered in thick snow.
And your feet sink deep into the snow,
Slowing you down,
Making it hard to move.
And you feel so cold.
And you think you can't go on.
It feels impossible to move.
But you stop.
You take an inhale,
Breathing in,
Filling your tummy with air.
And gently exhale,
Blowing away all of the negative voices.
And you tell yourself,
I can climb this mountain.
And you put one foot in front of another.
And you climb higher.
You climb higher and higher,
Higher and higher,
Higher and higher.
The sun shines upon your face,
Warming you,
Lighting your way,
Guiding you.
And the wind gently blows,
Gently pushing you in the right direction,
Helping you along your journey.
And you reach the very top of the mountain.
Imagine yourself there,
At the peak of your mountain.
And imagine planting a flag at the peak of your mountain.
What does your flag look like?
Paint a picture in your mind of your flag,
Something that represents you.
Is it a flag bearing your name,
Your picture,
Or a flag of the country you're from,
Or your favourite colour?
Imagine your flag,
And imagine planting your flag into the peak of the mountain.
And from your position in the top of the mountain,
You look out over the incredible view around you.
And you look down on the climb you have completed.
Look at how far you have come.
You look at all you have achieved.
And you think about how much you have grown.
You think about the challenges you have faced and overcome.
And here you are,
Sat on top of the mountain you thought you would never manage to climb.
And you feel so proud to be you.
And when you are ready,
You grab a pair of skis and away you go.
Skiing down the mountain,
Gliding through the snow,
Weaving in and out of trees,
Feeling so carefree.
The cold spray of the snow,
Whipping up all around you as you speed through the snow.
A big smile on your face.
And you flip up into the air,
And away you go.
Floating through the air once more.
Floating up above the mountain.
Floating through the sky.
Floating on and on.
On and on.
On and on.
Until you are back in your surroundings.
Back where you first began.
Only this time you feel different.
You feel lighter.
You feel carefree.
And you know nothing is a challenge to you.
And any time you are faced with another mountain that feels impossible to climb,
All you have to do is breathe and put one foot in front of another and climb higher and higher and overcome.
Thank you for coming with us on this journey.
Good night.
Good night.
