So tell me,
Do you ever find it hard to sleep?
Do you ever feel like your head is very noisy?
Do you ever have moments in your day where you just don't quite feel right and everything feels a bit challenging?
Well this is a quick calming journey for whenever you just want to step away from all the noise and find a bit of calm and check in with yourself and know that it's okay not to be okay and know that your feelings,
Whatever they may be,
Are valid and they matter because you matter.
So sometimes we need these moments of calm to take ourselves away from all the noise in our heads so that we can return to these big emotions and feel more relaxed and ready to take them on and deal with them.
Because you know you have everything you need inside you.
You just need to find ways of being calm and tuning into it.
Now maybe for this one you would like to use a cuddly because we've not used a cuddly for a while and having something to cuddle can be a great comfort when we're feeling this way.
If you don't know what I'm talking about cuddly is a term we came up with on previous journeys for something we can cuddle whether that be your favourite cuddly toy or just a pillow or a cushion.
You can use anything you like,
Just anything you can give a really nice cuddle.
Grab something now and lie down with it on top of your tummy and when you're in a comfy spot wrap your arms around your cuddly and give it a really lovely big cuddle and enjoy the cuddle.
Sometimes a cuddle can really make you feel better and you can get this just from cuddling your cuddly.
Release your arms and relax them by your sides or wherever is comfortable and let's just be still.
Let's just be quiet.
What are you thinking about?
What are you feeling?
Notice how you are breathing.
Are you using your mouth?
Are you using your nose?
Are you using both?
Notice how your breath is going in and out of your body.
Don't try and control it,
Just notice it because it's kind of amazing how we breathe constantly and don't even notice we're doing it.
And with your cuddly on top of your tummy,
Very slowly breathe in,
Filling your tummy with air and watch your tummy pushing your cuddly up into the air and breathe out,
Exhaling very gently and cuddly lowers down again.
Now with your eyes closed,
Let's take another deep breath in,
Filling your tummy with air,
The air in your tummy pushing your cuddly up and imagine a small wave rushing in from your toes up and over your body.
Exhale gently and as you blow all of that air out,
Feel your cuddly fall and imagine the wave receding back out to the sea.
Take another deep breath in,
Your tummy fills with air and your cuddly rises and here comes the wave again,
Washing over your body,
So soothing,
So refreshing and exhale,
Blowing away all of that air and feel your tummy lower,
Feel your cuddly lower and the wave receding seeds back out to the sea once more.
These are waves of sleep magic,
Washing over your body and relaxing your entire body.
You breathe in,
Filling your tummy with air,
Your cuddly rising up high and imagine that beautiful refreshing wave washing over you and as you exhale,
It disappears back out to sea,
Leaving you feeling so refreshed,
So carefree,
So relaxed and you relax your feet,
You relax your legs,
You relax your back,
You relax your chest,
You relax your shoulders,
You relax your arms,
You relax your neck,
You relax your jaw,
You relax your face and slowly,
Slowly your entire body feels so relaxed and you take a moment to gather together anything that's weighing you down right now,
Anything playing on your mind,
Standing in the way of you feeling calm in this moment.
Let's gather it up and take an inhale,
Breathing in gently as your tummy fills with air,
Your cuddly rises up and exhale blowing away all of this negativity holding you back,
Blow it all away,
Away it goes and you feel free,
Carefree.
Those waves of sleep magic have left you sparkling all over and you feel so light,
So calm,
So carefree.
Let's take another inhale,
Breathing in,
Filling your tummy with air and feeling your cuddly rise high in the air.
You now feel so light,
So light and as you breathe out,
You imagine another magical wave rolling in and you're so light and carefree,
It washes you away.
The magical waves carry you out to sea,
You bob along on the calm waters,
Gently rocked by the waves,
Happily floating out to sea,
Sparkling turquoise waters all around you,
The bright sky up above and you just float on and on,
On and on,
On and on.
Imagine your happy place.
Your happy place is somewhere that makes you smile,
Somewhere you feel safe,
Somewhere you can be yourself,
Somewhere you feel at your best,
Where is your happy place?
Imagine yourself there in your happy place.
How does it make you feel?
What can you see?
What can you hear?
What can you smell?
What do you do there?
Imagine yourself enjoying your happy place.
That's how simple it is.
Whenever you need to visit your happy place,
All you have to do is close your eyes,
Remember our calming breaths,
Imagine the waves of sleep magic relaxing your body and you will soon be floating away to your happy place.
And you can stay there as long as you need to,
As long as you want to.
It's yours,
Your happy place.
