So,

Let's lie here and be still.

And see how still we can be.

And be quiet.

How quiet can you be?

And gently close your eyes.

And notice what you're thinking right now.

What is it you're feeling?

Sit with those feelings for a moment.

In this stillness.

In this quiet.

When we're on our journey,

Don't worry if your mind is racing.

Or if you get distracted or start thinking of something else happened today.

Or something you know is coming up tomorrow.

That is all completely normal.

It happens to me every time I meditate.

Because I've got such a noisy,

Noisy head.

I'm always thinking of a thousand things at once.

But the objective isn't necessarily about completely clearing your head.

Because that's a very hard thing to do.

It's about just calming your mind.

It's about quieting it down.

It's about focusing your thoughts onto other things.

Away from those thousands of things on your to-do list.

Or away from the thing that happened today.

Away from the thing that you have on tomorrow.

So if at any time whilst you're on this journey,

You find your mind wandering,

Don't worry.

Just bring your concentration back to your breathing again.

And come back and join us wherever we've got to on our journey.

So while we're lying here,

Let's start to notice how you're breathing.

Notice how the air goes in and out of your nose.

Notice how that feels.

Notice how you breathe in and out of your mouth.

Feel the air going in and out.

In.

And notice what happens to your tummy as you breathe.

Notice how it expands and lifts as you breathe in.

And then it flattens down slightly as you breathe out.

Goes up.

And now up.

Let's practice a nice big deep breath together.

So take a big deep breath in.

And out.

Blow it all out.

Breath,

Make you feel heavier.

Let it make you feel sleepier.

Now with your next breath,

Let's shake out anything that is on your mind that is maybe annoying you,

Or upsetting you,

Or causing you to worry.

We're not bringing it with us.

So let's take a big deep breath in and blow it all out of your system.

Let's take another big deep breath and blow out any of that negativity.

And remember,

Whenever you feel those negative thoughts inside your head,

You can always use these breaths that we practice together.

And they will make you feel calmer.

And they will make you feel more in control.

And they will help your head to feel a bit clearer.

Continue with those big deep breaths.

And be still.

Be really still.

Because a butterfly has landed on your toes.

So I need you to be really still so it doesn't get frightened away.

Picture in your mind what your butterfly looks like.

It doesn't have to be a butterfly you've ever seen before.

It doesn't even have to look like a butterfly David Attenborough has ever seen before.

It's yours.

It can look however you want it to look.

It might be electric pink with gold zigzag stripes.

It can be anything.

Be as creative as you like.

And focus on that butterfly in your mind.

And now wriggle your toes.

And in your mind watch your butterfly flutter away.

And stretch out your feet.

Stretch out your legs.

And feel them filling up with your sleep magic.

And then let them flop and fall wherever is comfortable to you.

And watch as your butterfly lands on your tummy.

So you take another big deep breath and blow it out.

And watch as that movement makes your butterfly flutter away.

And your butterfly lands on your left shoulder.

So you give your left shoulder a shrug.

And your butterfly lands on your right shoulder.

And you give your right shoulder a shrug too.

And your butterfly flutters away.

And you give your arms a nice big stretch out before you.

And wriggle your fingers.

And feel sleep magic rushing through your lungs.

And now circle your arms over your body.

And wrap yourself up in a big cuddle.

And cover yourself in your sleep shield.

Remind yourself that your sleep shield is there to make you feel so safe on our sleep journey.

And it is there to make you feel so sleepy.

Enjoy giving yourself a big cuddle.

And whisper to yourself,

I am peaceful.

And let your arms flop and fall wherever is comfortable to you.

Your butterfly has landed on your nose.

So let's pull a really crazy face and scrunch up your nose.

And watch your butterfly flutter away.

And gently rock your head from side to side like you're saying no.

And up and down like you're saying yes.

And with every movement you feel your head filling up with sleep magic.

And rest your head back on your pillow or wherever is comfortable.

And just watch your butterfly fluttering around above you.

It's so mesmerising.

And as we lie here so still,

So peaceful,

Let's take one of our big breaths together.

Like we've done before.

By imagining our tummy is a big balloon that we're filling with air.

So let's take a big deep breath,

Filling your balloon with air.

And then blow it all out as you deflate your balloon.

Let's try again.

Only this time,

Imagine in your head what colour your balloon is.

So let's breathe in together.

Fill your balloon with air.

There's your balloon.

What colour is it?

And blow it all out.

And remember,

Whatever colour you chose,

That's your special colour.

And whenever you think of that colour,

I want you to remember our balloon breaths together.

And how calm they made you feel.

So let's try again.

Breathe in,

Filling your balloon with air.

And blow it all out.

And as you blow out all the air from your balloon,

You feel your bed start to float.

Your bed is lifting up off the ground.

Higher and higher.

Floating through the air with your butterfly.

And you're not afraid.

Because you are covered in your sleep shield.

You are safe.

With each of your deep breaths,

You feel your bed lifting higher and higher.

As we follow your butterfly,

As it guides us on our sleep journey.

Your butterfly leads us towards rolling hills.

Green and luscious.

And we swoop through a sloping valley.

Discovering a sparkling stream.

Which we follow as it curls around the hillsides.

Before revealing a magnificent meadow.

Stretching out before us.

There are wildflowers as far as the eye can see.

Peppering the meadow with their vibrant colours.

The flowers proudly poke their heads up above the long grass.

And as they sway in the wind,

It is like they're waving hello.

And inviting us to come and join them.

We follow your butterfly as it gently lowers onto the meadow.

And we notice how each blade of grass stands so tall and so strong.

And we notice their deep green colour.

And as we float through the grassland,

The blades of grass tickle and stroke our skin.

And we feel so peaceful.

And we follow your butterfly as it weaves in and out of the plethora of wildflowers around us.

Bluebells create a fantastic splash of colour.

With their unmistakable drooping blue leaves.

Bent stems and heavy nodding bell-shaped heads.

There are buttercups with their tall stems and playful leaves.

Yellow like butter.

And the poppies flash their striking red heads.

Balancing on the top of their lofty stems.

And we see the daisies' dainty white petals growing from their yellow heads.

And your butterfly introduces you to flowers you've never seen before.

The bright pink meadow saffron.

And the purple and green winged orchids.

And we discover the rare cup-shaped yellow cowslip flowers.

Growing on tall stalks.

And as we float amongst the flowers,

We spot a family of long-tailed field mice.

Scurrying about.

Their light brown coats look so soft and silky.

And they disappear in amongst a patch of dandelions.

The dandelions are in their ripe,

Global formation.

Their fluffy white seeds look like pillows.

And they hang from its head with such fragility.

So we make a wish.

Make a wish.

And we blow the dandelion.

And we watch the white seed clocks float off through the air in a delicate line.

Looping and dancing through the sky around us.

And as we watch the dandelion seeds being carried off in a gentle breeze,

We see a skylark singing sweetly as it glides higher and higher through the blue sky above us.

And a barn owl swoops across the meadow and into the tall trees towering over us.

The brilliant sunlight glitters through the gaps between the leaves.

At the foot of the trees is a carpet of lilac lavender.

Its distinctive fragrance is so relaxing.

And the smell makes you so calm and so peaceful and so sleepy.

And as we float on through that lilac lavender,

We know whenever we smell lavender again,

It will make us feel so calm and so peaceful,

So sleepy.

We watch bumblebees land on the lavender,

Delighted by its pollen.

We enjoy spotting their black and yellow coats,

Their wings flopping through with piddly as they fly away with a bzzz.

And your butterfly dips down over the entrance to a rabbit burrow.

And we watch as three little bunny rabbits pop out of the burrow and hop about merrily playing in the long grass and wildflowers.

And in the distance,

You see a deer galloping across the grassland.

And as your butterfly continues to flutter around,

It is joined by a flock of other butterflies.

And they spin through the air together,

Kaleidoscope of colour,

They feel flying off into the endless sky.

And as you watch them disappear,

You notice the sky is filled with a rainbow.

Every colour is shining in the sky,

Red and yellow and pink and blue and orange.

There is colour all around you.

And as you float within it,

You feel so peaceful.

And we float back over the meadow.

We follow the sparkling stream.

We float through the valley and over the rolling hills.

And we float off into the endless sky.

And we feel so peaceful and so sleepy.

So peaceful and so sleepy.

So peaceful and so sleepy.

And we float on and on until we are back where we began.

Back in your surroundings.

Only this time it is different.

Because this time you feel so peaceful and so sleepy.

And you're not disappointed to be back.

Because you know you can return to your meadow anytime you want to,

Anytime you need to.

By closing your eyes,

Filling your body with sleep magic,

Concentrating on your balloon breaths and imagining your bed is floating away.

So now,

Now stay here.

So peaceful,

So sleepy.

This is where I leave you to drift off into your happy dreams.

Thank you for coming on our journey.
