The breath, like a feather, is delicate yet constant, gliding effortlessly through the air. Each inhale lifts it higher, and each exhale let's it settle, following the natural rhythm of life. Imagine it's gentle touch, soothing and light, as it drifts in harmony with your body. As Rumi once said, "Watch your breath as if it were a feather, soft and weightless. Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Let life live through you."

Feather Friend A feather lay still on the edge of the sky,

Whispering,

I'm weightless,

Too fragile to fly.

The breath curled close,

A soft unseen thread.

I'll guide you gently,

No fear lies ahead.

With a sigh of surrender the feather took flight,

Guiding through dusk and then weaving through light.

It soared over rivers,

It danced in the trees,

Carried by whispers,

Caressed by the breeze.

Do you feel it?

Asked the breath,

With a voice like a hymn.

Freedom is found when you trust from within.

The feather then smiled as it floated back down,

Resting on waters without fear,

Without frown.

As the feather landed and then gently rose to the sky,

It said,

I see now,

You have to let go before you can fly.

Your today's meditation will anchor to the now,

Like a feather lifted,

Floating on the breath's bow.

Let's begin by settling in.

Feel the ground beneath you,

The seat that supports you,

And the air gently brushing against your skin.

Close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Feel your body supported,

Steady and strong.

Now imagine a feather,

See its delicate shape,

Light and effortless,

Floating on the air.

It drifts,

Neither resisting nor forcing its direction,

Carried gently by unseen currents.

With your next inhale,

Imagine the feather rising.

Feel how the air draws it upward,

Weightless and free.

And as you exhale,

Picture the feather descending,

Soft and slow,

Landing only to be lifted once again.

Notice how your breath,

Like the feather,

Flows without strain.

It needs no pushing,

No pulling,

Just the ease of letting it be.

Inhale,

The feather glides upward,

Buoyed by possibility.

Exhale,

It waltz gently,

Trusting the earth to meet it.

Feel your breath in your chest.

Is it shallow like a breeze,

Or deep like a gust moving through the trees?

Notice its texture.

Is it warm,

Cool,

Smooth?

Now let's breathe in sync with the feather.

Inhale,

Lift it high.

Exhale,

Set it free.

Inhale,

Lift it high.

Exhale,

Set it free.

With each cycle,

Imagine releasing what weighs you down.

Stress,

Worry,

Expectation,

All fall away as the feather descends.

And in the space left behind,

Notice what rises with the inhale.

Calm,

Clarity,

Lightness.

The feather teaches us we don't need to grasp at control.

The breath carries us just as the wind carries the feather.

And now as this practice comes to a close,

Take one final deep inhale.

Lift that feather high into the open sky.

Exhale,

Set it free.

Let your breath guide you,

Light as a feather,

Through the currents of your day.

Because the feather doesn't struggle against the wind,

It simply flows.

Just as you can,

Moment by moment,

Breath by breath.

You see my friend,

The feather and the breath share a secret.

The lighter your hold,

The farther you'll go.

May your mind,

Your body and your spirit be abundant with peace,

Lightness and ease.

Until we meet again,

Namaste.
