Hello friends.
Learning to navigate distractions of your daily life and cultivate a sense of awareness for the present moment can be done by simply asking yourself some simple questions.
Questions that can act as a beacon to bring you back.
Being present allows you to fully engage with the here and the now.
Consider all relevant information and choices and assess your feelings and thoughts without being overly influenced by past experiences or future concerns.
So learning to be mindful can lead to more informed,
Engaging,
And thoughtful decisions that truly align with your values and priorities.
So for today's meditation I will invite you to ask yourself a few questions to help you ground back here in this moment.
So if you're ready let's begin.
Find a comfortable seat.
A place where you won't be disturbed for about the next 10 minutes.
Sit upright.
Close down your eyes.
And maybe place one hand on your heart,
Your stomach,
Or your chest.
Or a combination of the three.
For a deeper connection as you ask yourself these questions.
Ask yourself now,
How am I breathing?
Is it fast or slow?
Long or short?
Forced or constricted?
Bring your breath into a state of comfort and calmness now.
And in the rhythm of your breath find the quiet and the stillness within.
And now ask yourself,
How am I feeling?
Am I tired,
Bored,
Nervous,
Content,
Or agitated?
Let tranquility wrap around your emotions like a gentle embrace,
Like a soft whisper.
Let calmness soothe the edges of your feelings as they arise.
Bring your emotions into a state of softening and relaxing back.
Next question that you can ask yourself here,
Where is my mind?
Are my thoughts ruminating?
Clear?
Foggy?
Bring your feelings into open awareness and place them in one of two places.
In the filing cabinet of your mind,
Drawer by drawer,
Store away the echoes of the past thoughts and the whispers of the future ones.
As thoughts pop and arise in the mind,
Simply identify,
Is this thought from the past or from the future?
And then bring your thoughts in line with your softening of emotions and your calmness of breath.
Bring them into cadence with each other.
And finally ask yourself,
What are the sensations within my body now?
Is there warmth or coolness?
Pressure?
Tingling?
I'm going to leave you for about another minute or two.
Another minute or two.
Should you find yourself lost in thoughts,
I invite you to practice asking yourself the questions.
How am I breathing?
What am I feeling?
What am I thinking?
And what are the sensations I'm experiencing?
Create the act of practicing,
Of coming back,
Of regrounding yourself to this moment by asking yourself these questions.
Not as a defeat,
But as a success.
It takes practice to bring yourself back.
It takes practice to become more confident and confident.
I'll watch the time.
Slowly start to bring your awareness back to the sound of my voice.
Allow yourself to,
Slower than you want to,
Allow your eyes to open and bring movement into your feet,
Into your hands.
And as you move about your day,
Your week,
Your morning,
Know that mindfulness is a curious conversation with the self.
It's a constant inquiry into the nature of our experiences,
Thoughts,
And potential of the present moment.
It's an art of asking the right questions,
Inviting wisdom to unfold through quiet exploration of this moment and the next.
Until we meet again,
Namaste.
