Disappointment.
That is a construct that we have all probably crossed paths with at one point or another in our lives.
And that is the theme that we are going to reflect upon and discuss in today's devotional meditation reading.
The element of disappointment.
So welcome friends,
Good morning,
Good afternoon,
Good evening.
Whenever you are listening to this recording,
I hope you are doing well and I hope today's devotional reading speaks some truth into how the element of disappointment shows up for you in your life and how you respond or react to it and the lessons that we can learn from it.
So the first reading we'll do is the morning devotion.
I had thought there would be so much more.
I would be more.
You would be more.
This world would be more.
I open my eyes to another day,
Just like the last,
Just like the next.
The world turns around me and I stand still.
Help me this day to rise above these trivial regrets and imagined slights that so often have nothing to do with me.
Allow me to see the good in my world,
The magnificent mystery all around me.
To draw in one breath is a grace,
A miracle,
A fulfillment.
Profound words here and it really does help us to have a paradigm shift with our mindset to see the things that we can be thankful and grateful for all around us,
Even in the midst of unmet expectations,
The element of disappointment,
Whether you are drawing that inward and disappointed in yourself for missing this sign or not realizing this person was doing that to you or whatever your situation may be,
Or if your disappointment is found in others.
This draws us back into still seeing the amazing miracles that exist around us.
Let's move into the evening reading.
Things often do not happen the way we had planned or had hoped.
We set our expectations high only to be let down,
Sometimes repeatedly.
It becomes hard to move with humor in a life punctuated with frustration.
In these moments of weariness,
Take solace in small moments.
Hold hands and hug deeply,
Dance and sing,
Breathe in the stars,
Appreciate simple beauty and small successes until the road seems less crowded and the journey becomes a pleasure.
I will close this reading with an amazing,
Profound quote from Martin Luther King,
Jr.
Himself.
We must accept finite disappointment,
But never lose infinite hope.
Thank you friends,
Community,
And global souls all around.
Thank you for being here,
And we will connect again on the next one.
Until next time,
Breathe easy,
Friends.
