Welcome to this four minute pranayama practice as we begin to explore the waterfall breath.
If you are new to pranayama practices or if it has been a while since you have incorporated breath work into your yoga practice,
This is a great time to be here connecting together as we explore the waterfall breath.
This practice is simple,
It is diverse,
It is effective and can be done anywhere and everywhere you may find yourself traveling.
Pull up a comfortable cushion,
Stack up some blankets,
Get in a comfortable seated position and join me for this brief exploration.
Softly close the eyes if that is comfortable to do and we will begin to explore the exhale portion of our breath first.
Take in a few even soft inhales and exhales and when you are ready to incorporate the exhale,
We will just gently touch the teeth together and we will exhale out through the lips and through the teeth.
Go through a couple rounds of those exhales.
We want to completely empty out the lungs of all the air within and then we recover and cleanse with the filling inhale in through the nostrils and then detoxify and release all that air back out through our exhale through the teeth.
Whenever you are ready to incorporate in the inhale,
We are going to breathe up as if we are breathing up through a straw.
Our inhale will incorporate a slight restriction and if pranayama restrictions are not something you are used to practicing in your daily practice,
Just be kind and compassionate to yourself.
Don't push too far to the edge and if you notice any sensations that may seem uncomfortable to you,
Gently back off and just return to the exhales.
Join with me a few rounds of both the inhale and exhale for our waterfall breath.
Congratulations,
Friends,
On going on this journey with me to exploring the waterfall breath.
Continue as many rounds as you would like to and then just bring your awareness back into the space and reawaken from within whenever you are ready to end the practice.
I will see you again soon as we go through another guided meditation or breath practice and until then,
Breathe easy,
Friends.
