This is a brief recitation of Rumi's writing "Just-Finishing Candle." This writing reminds us all of the various perspectives we can adopt when it comes to our life. Sometimes we can see the shadows and sometimes we can only see light. There are seasons in our lives where we find stillness and other times, we are wondering if we will ever slow down. This is a beautiful reminder that all of it is beautiful and all of it can be painful too. Either way, it grows us.

Transcript

A reading of Rumi.

A just finishing candle.

A candle is made to become entirely flame.

In that annihilating moment,

It has no shadow.

It is nothing but a tongue of light describing a refuge.

Look at this,

Just finishing candle stub as someone who is finally safe from virtue and vice.

The pride and the shame we claim from those.

A reading of Rumi.
