Everything we do in our adult lives stems from what we did or did not receive as children. Healing our inner child is, therefore, an act of loving service to ourselves. This meditation will guide you through your own breath, grounding, and connection to your own body; and then we will meet our inner child and bring them into our meditation journey for love, compassion, forgiveness, and tender presence. If you'd like, have a journal or piece of paper handy to write down your experience after.

Welcome,

My name is Alex and today we are going to meditate on healing our inner child.

This meditation will use the power of visualization to bring to mind your younger self,

The power of breath and presence to move prana,

Our life force,

Through our body,

And the power of intention to send healing to the wounds,

Traumas,

And pain that our inner child still holds.

With the wisdom and life experience that we now have as adults,

We can reach out to our younger self and give them what they weren't able to have in their time.

So now is your chance to reconnect,

To send and receive love,

And to come home to yourself.

I invite you now to find a comfortable seat.

You may sit on the ground,

In a chair,

Or use any props to help yourself feel supported.

I like to ensure that my hips are slightly higher than my knees,

Helping my spine feel supported throughout the meditation.

Feel free to pause this recording to get yourself comfortable.

You may sit cross-legged on your heels or in a chair with your feet planted.

Regardless of how you sit,

Ensure it serves you.

Release your hands to your knees and flip your left palm upwards towards the sky.

Turn your right palm down so it's resting on your knee or thigh.

When you're ready,

Close your eyes.

Take a deep breath in through your nose,

Filling your belly and your chest with oxygen.

And then take a full breath out through your open mouth.

Sigh it out.

We'll do that twice more.

Deep inhale through your nose.

Deep exhale through your mouth.

Let go of your day's thoughts and happenings.

One more time.

Deep breath in through the nose.

Deep breath out through your mouth.

As you exhale,

Release your shoulders down your back.

Let your heart and chest softly open in front of you and breathe normally now.

You may close your mouth and enjoy the breath through your nose.

Relax your eyes,

Your mouth and jaw and allow your brow to unfurl.

Imagine you have a golden thread tied to the crown of your head,

Lifting you upwards towards the sky a little bit more.

And at the same time,

Imagine you have great big tree roots growing out of your sitting bones,

Drawing you a little bit deeper into Mother Earth.

Settle into your seat just like this and breathe,

Belly soft,

Heart open,

Breath moving.

It is not until we become adults that we realize what all we needed as children.

Love,

Support,

Attention,

Acknowledgement.

All we ever needed and all we ever deserved were these basic primal things.

And yet many of us were born into situations,

Circumstances and environments that could or would not ensure those needs were met.

Maybe we often blamed ourselves or took on everyone else's problems and burdens,

Putting ourselves at the back of the line.

It is now time to come home to ourselves.

Life has given us experience,

Strength,

Resilience and wisdom.

Let's use this wisdom now to heal what we could not back then.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Breathe after me either to yourself or out loud.

I call forth my inner child.

I call forth the little girl or the little boy who grew up too fast,

Who just wanted to love and be loved,

Who life made strong and resilient,

Who only wanted to be soft.

Sit beside me now and let's meditate together.

I'd like you now to imagine your younger self.

It doesn't matter from which age this image comes.

Just picture yourself in your mind's eye.

Be honest and authentic in your visual.

If the face gazing back at you is not happy,

That's okay.

See yourself honestly and trust that this is for your highest good.

One of the needs every child ought to have is the need to be seen for who they are,

How they are and what they are.

So see yourself,

Your younger self,

Gazing back at you and hold this vision in your mind's eye without judgment.

We're not here to fix.

You have always been wholesome.

And now invite them to sit down next to you in your meditation to your left.

Watch them also find a comfortable seat next to you,

Maybe even sitting like you,

Closing their eyes and placing their hands on their knees.

And now gently ask them to place their right hand into your left palm so that you're holding hands in this meditation.

Use the full power of your imagination to feel their little hand in yours.

You may even squeeze your own hand to animate this visual further.

This is your connection to yourself again,

To the promise and the reminder that you will always be here for yourself.

Feel the presence of your inner child next to you,

Sensing their innocence,

Their childhood spirit,

The blank slate upon which they will create the life that you know now.

Feel their pure heart,

The heart that beats in your own chest.

Realize their dreams,

Their likes,

Their desires,

Their imagination still growing like a young seed.

See them despite the pain and struggle that life will give them.

See past their traumas and wounds without ignoring them,

But knowing that they do not define this child.

Now let's send your younger self some love,

All the love that you deserve then and now.

As you take a deep breath in,

Imagine a bright white light coming in through the crown of your head.

And as you exhale,

Send that light into your hands joined together and imagine it moving into the heart of your younger self.

Inhale to receive the light from above and exhale to send that love to your younger self.

Allow the breath to move easily without strain or manipulation.

Visualize the white light moving the energy of prana and love,

Knowing that as you receive,

You also give.

I'm going to give you some time now in silence to enjoy this.

I'm going to give you some time now in silence to enjoy this.

I'm going to give you some time now in silence to enjoy this.

I'm going to give you some time now in silence to enjoy this.

I'm going to give you some time now in silence to enjoy this.

Let go of the light now.

Observe your fill of energy radiating within your body like an orb spinning around your heart center.

And then notice that same light in your younger self.

This light and love bind you,

Connect you through thick and thin.

Take a deep breath in.

As you exhale,

Open your mouth and sigh out.

It's time now to let your inner child return to the whispers of yesterday,

But know that they are never too far away.

They're always within,

A memory and a prayer away.

What you do with your life today and onwards is in honor of your younger self.

So tell them you love them.

When you're ready,

Begin to gently blink your eyes open and make some small movements with your hands,

Fingers,

Feet and toes.

Land back in your space.

And if it's potent for you,

Journal the experience and write down anything you'd like to further process or commemorate in words.

Come back to this meditation whenever you feel the need to reconnect with your inner child.

Namaste sweet friend.

Namaste.

Namaste.
