Hello my sweet listener.
Welcome to Storytime with Nana Jojo.
I'm so happy you're here.
I'm Nana Jojo and I have the most wonderful stories to share with you.
Every week I bring you magical stories filled with adventure,
Kindness,
And happy endings.
They're perfect for bedtime,
Nap time,
Or any time you want to hear a story.
We'll visit enchanted forests,
Meet brave princes and princesses,
And we'll learn important lessons about kindness,
Courage,
Friendship,
And staying true to ourselves.
But before we start our story today,
Let's get cozy.
Make sure you've got your favorite stuffy and maybe even a soft cuddly blanket.
Are you ready?
Wonderful.
Next,
Let's do some calming breaths together before our story begins,
Okay?
Remember that when we take big slow breaths,
Our bodies feel happier and more relaxed.
So let's breathe together,
Okay?
Take a nice big breath in through your nose like this.
And then you can make a sound as you breathe out like this.
Good job.
Let's do another one together.
Big breath in and breathe out again with a happy sigh.
Yay.
Awesome job.
One more time,
Okay?
Big breath in and breathe out with a happy sigh.
Super duper job.
Do you feel more relaxed?
Yay,
Me too.
Okay,
My sweet listener,
It's time for our story now.
Come snuggling close.
Let's begin.
This is another story about Luna the Little Star.
In today's story,
Luna learns something very important.
She learns something that can help when the world feels big and confusing.
She learns to look for the helpers.
And here's our story.
Once upon a time,
High up in the night sky,
There lived a little star named Luna.
Luna was small,
Perhaps the smallest star in the sky.
But she shined with a soft golden light that made her easy to find,
Even on the darkest of nights.
Luna loved to do her job.
Every night she looked down and watched the world below,
And she twinkled her light peacefully in her special spot high up in the night sky.
She shined her soft light through bedroom windows,
And she helped children fall asleep with her soft,
Gentle glow.
Luna especially loved watching over the neighborhood where families lived in cozy homes with warm lights in the windows.
Luna knew all the people who lived there.
First,
There was Mr.
Chen.
Mr.
Chen delivered the mail every afternoon with a smile and a wave.
And there was Ms.
Rodriguez.
Ms.
Rodriguez was a teacher who taught at the elementary school.
There was Officer Martinez.
Officer Martinez drove through the neighborhood,
Making sure everyone was safe.
And there was Mrs.
Kim.
Mrs.
Kim worked at the local grocery store and always had a kind word for everyone.
And then there was Mr.
James.
Mr.
James opened the community center every day so children had a place to play after school.
Luna loved watching all these people go about their days,
Helping and caring for everyone in the neighborhood.
One evening,
Though,
Something happened that Luna hadn't seen before.
A big storm rolled in.
Not a storm with rain and thunder,
But a different kind of storm.
It was a storm of confusion and concern.
Luna watched as some of the families looked uneasy.
She saw children looking nervous.
She saw neighbors gathering in small groups,
Talking in hushed voices.
Something was wrong in the neighborhood,
But Luna didn't understand what it was.
All she knew was that people seemed to be worried,
And her light flickered with concern.
Luna wanted to help,
But she wasn't sure how to help or what to do,
So she went to find Grandfather Orion.
Luna knew he would know what to do.
Grandfather Orion,
Luna said,
Something is happening in my neighborhood.
People are worried and concerned,
And I don't know what to do.
I want to help them,
But I'm just one small star.
What can I do?
Grandfather Orion quietly thought for a moment,
And then he said,
Luna,
When something scary happens,
Even the brightest star can't fix everything alone.
But do you know what always helps?
What's that?
Luna asked.
Look for the helpers,
Said Grandfather Orion.
Even on days when things feel hard,
There are always people helping.
And when you find the helpers,
You find hope.
But how will I know who the helpers are?
Asked Luna.
Grandfather Orion smiled.
Watch closely,
Luna.
The helpers are already there.
So Luna watched.
At first,
All she could see was the worry and the concern.
But then she noticed something else.
She saw Mr.
Chen talking to families as he delivered the mail.
He wasn't just delivering the mail,
Though.
He was checking on people and making sure everyone was okay.
Luna saw Ms.
Rodriguez,
One of the teachers,
Staying late at school.
Ms.
Rodriguez was preparing lessons,
Making phone calls,
And making sure her students would be taken care of.
She saw Officer Martinez talking with children and helping them feel safe.
She saw Mrs.
Kim at the grocery store,
Quietly giving food to families who needed it.
And she saw Mr.
James at the community center,
Keeping the doors open for anyone who needed help,
Or just a safe,
Warm place to be.
Luna also noticed other helpers,
Helpers she hadn't expected.
She saw a teenage girl named Maria organizing her friends to help make care packages for families in the neighborhood.
She saw Mr.
Thompson,
Who had lived in the neighborhood for 50 years,
Sitting on his porch and waving to everyone who passed by.
He couldn't do much anymore,
But he could still smile and wave and let people know they weren't alone.
She saw a young mother named Sarah starting a phone tree,
Making sure every family in the neighborhood had someone checking on them.
And she saw children drawing pictures and taping them to windows with messages like,
Luna realized that Grandfather Orion was right.
The helpers were everywhere.
And they weren't wearing uniforms or capes.
They were just regular people,
Doing what they could with what they had.
One evening,
Luna watched a little boy named Sam sitting on his front steps,
Looking worried.
Sam's older sister,
Keisha,
Came out and sat beside him.
I'm scared,
Sam said quietly.
Everything feels different.
I know,
Said Keisha.
I'm a little scared,
Too.
What do we do when we're scared?
Sam asked.
Keisha thought for a moment,
And then she said,
Mama told me something important.
She said when things feel scary,
We should look for the helpers.
They're the ones who remind us that we're not alone.
Who are the helpers?
Sam asked.
See Mr.
Chen?
He's a helper.
And Miss Rodriguez at school?
And Officer Martinez?
And Mrs.
Kim at the store?
And Mr.
James at the community center?
They're all helpers.
But they're just regular people,
Sam said.
Exactly,
Said Keisha.
That's what makes it even better.
The helpers are just regular people who choose to help.
And that means we can be helpers,
Too.
Sam thought about this.
But how can I be a helper?
I'm just a kid,
He said.
You can check on our neighbor,
Mrs.
Jones,
And ask if she needs any help carrying her groceries,
Keisha said.
You can smile at people who look sad.
You can share your snack with someone who forgets theirs.
And you can be kind.
Those things help,
Too.
Sam sat up a little straighter.
Hmm.
Yes,
I can do that,
He said.
I know you can,
Said Keisha.
Up in the sky,
Luna's light glowed warmer and brighter.
She suddenly understood what Grandfather Orion had been trying to teach her.
Even when things feel hard,
Even when problems feel too big,
There are helpers.
And the helpers remind us that we have each other.
From that night on,
Luna shined her light especially bright on the helpers.
On Mr.
Chen delivering mail with kindness.
On Ms.
Rodriguez staying late to care for her students.
On Officer Martinez making sure everyone felt safe.
On Mrs.
Kim quietly feeding families.
On Mr.
James keeping the doors open.
On Maria organizing care packages.
On Mr.
Thompson waving from his porch.
On Sarah making phone calls.
On children drawing pictures of hope.
And on Keisha and Sam learning to be helpers themselves.
And whenever Luna saw a child who looked worried,
She would shine her light just a little brighter,
As if to say,
Look around.
Do you see them?
The helpers are there.
You're not alone.
Because even on the darkest nights,
The helpers are always there.
Sometimes they wear uniforms.
Sometimes they wear aprons or teacher clothes or regular everyday clothes.
Sometimes they're grown-ups.
And sometimes they're kids.
But they're always there.
Helping,
Caring,
And reminding everyone that we have each other.
And that,
My dear little listener,
Is the story of Luna and the helpers.
We learned from Luna that when things feel big and uncertain,
We can look for the helpers.
And we can be helpers too.
So the next time things feel hard,
Remember to look for the helpers.
They might be teachers or mail carriers or neighbors or friends.
They might be librarians or crossing guards or the person at the store or someone even sitting right next to you.
The helpers are there.
And you know what else?
You can be a helper too.
You can share.
You can be kind.
You can smile at someone who looks sad.
You can check on a friend.
You can help carry something.
You can even draw a picture that makes someone smile.
Helping doesn't have to be big.
It just has to be kind.
Remember that Luna will be shining for you tonight,
My little one.
And please always remember to look for the helpers.
And when you can,
Remember to be a helper.
Most of all,
Remember that Nana Jojo loves you so very much.
I'll be right here when you're ready to listen to another story.
I'll see you soon!
