Hi friends,
I just want to spend some time meditating on the word and using a breath prayer to guide our practice today.
So I've created 52 Weeks of Breath Prayers,
Which is just a card deck that has cards with simple breath prayers to guide your prayer and meditation time.
And I'll be using one to guide our time together today.
So today's breath prayer comes from Psalm 18-2.
Which says,
The Lord is my rock,
My fortress,
And my deliverer.
My God is my rock in whom I take refuge,
My shield and the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold.
And so a breath prayer that you can hold on to throughout this meditation is inhale,
You are my rock.
Exhale,
My firm foundation.
So take a moment to settle in.
Maybe take a big shoulder roll,
Drawing the shoulders up to your ears and down and away.
And closing the eyes if that feels okay.
Just coming into this moment.
Of stillness.
To meditate on.
God's Word.
To pause in his presence.
Lord,
We welcome you in this place.
Take a moment to bring your awareness to your breath.
Notice it moving in and out of the lungs.
Notice if with every inhale you can Feel the spine growing a little taller.
And every exhale you root down and ground a little bit more.
I just encourage you to breathe in a way that feels full.
So whatever that means to you.
So maybe you feel more expansion in the ballot.
And the ribs and chest.
Maybe that means taking a deeper,
Longer breath.
This practice of slowing down.
The Lord is my rock,
My fortress,
And my deliverer.
My God is my rock.
In whom I take refuge.
My shield and the horn of my salvation.
My stronghold.
As I read that scripture,
Maybe just notice what words or phrases stand out.
What do you know to be true?
Perhaps what do you struggle with in this moment?
The Lord is my rock,
My fortress,
And my deliverer.
My God is my rock in whom I take refuge.
My shield and the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold.
Just take a moment to pause as the scripture lands.
And I invite you to.
Find the breath prior.
As you continue to breathe deeply.
So as you inhale,
Think.
You are my rock.
And as you exhale,
Think.
My firm foundation.
Inhale.
You are my rock.
Exhale.
My firm foundation.
And just continue with the pace of your own breath.
You are my rock.
My firm foundation.
You And just taking another round of breath here.
You The Lord is my rock,
My fortress,
And my deliverer.
My God is my rock in whom I take refuge.
My shield and the horn of my salvation.
My stronghold.
Lord,
We take a moment to pause in your presence.
Thank you.
For being our strength.
In times of uncertainty.
In times of joy.
In times of sorrow.
The good,
The bad,
And everything in between.
Lord,
You are our firm foundation,
One thing that we know for sure.
Is that you're there.
Help us to be reminded of that and to lean on you in every moment.
At any time.
Lord,
We thank you for just this time to pause in your presence.
And to connect our breath with your word.
In Jesus' name I pray.
I'm just taking a slow,
Deep cleansing breath,
Inhaling through the nose.
Exhale out of your mouth.
Gently opening your eyes.
Thank you so much for just taking a moment to pause and to breathe with me today.
I hope that you will check out some of the other practices and I wish you a wonderful rest of your day.
