Welcome to Reground and Center with the Breath. In this breath/pranayama practice, we will bring balance to the body and mind by inhaling and exhaling for equal counts. This breath practice in Sanskrit is known as Sama Vritti. Sama translates to same or balanced and the Vrittis are the fluctuations/modifications of the mind (the coming and going of thought forms). It is thought that by balancing the breath in this way, we can in turn harmonize the state of the mind. We will begin our pranayama practice by finding a comfortable seated position with our feet or sitting bones anchored to the earth. Once sensing a connection, to the ground and our natural breath we will elongate the inhale and exhale to a count of 4. There will be a period of time for silence after the pranayama technique to notice what arises for you.
