This is a guided relaxation and visualization technique that is inspired by Penelope Quest's book,
Self-Healing with Reiki.
On page 66,
She uses visualization for cleansing.
This is a visualization for cleansing the body,
The mind,
And the energy.
Let's begin by lying down,
Finding a comfortable position on your back.
You can place a bolster or pillow underneath your knees and a blanket under your head for extra support.
Make sure that you're as comfortable as possible so that you can feel safe and held,
Supported by the earth underneath you.
Start by taking some deep long breaths,
Cleansing breaths in through your nose,
Out through an open mouth,
Twice more in through the nose,
Out through the mouth,
In through the nose,
Out through the mouth.
Release any tension you're holding in the body with each breath out.
We'll consciously relax every part of the body before beginning our visualization journey.
Let's start by noticing where you're holding tension,
Starting in your face.
You can close your eyes and consciously relax all of the muscles around your eyes,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw,
Your teeth,
And your gums.
Take a deep breath in.
Exhale any tension out from your neck,
Your shoulders.
Soften your shoulders down and away from your ears.
Relax your chest,
Your back body.
Let your shoulders become heavier,
Melting into the floor.
Notice if you're holding or gripping in your abdomen.
Take a deep belly breath in and relax your belly as you breathe out.
Let it soften.
Belly rises with each breath in.
Belly falls with each breath out.
Take your awareness into your sacrum,
Your pelvis,
Your groin.
Gently relax all of these muscles.
Let them go loose.
Let your thigh bones become heavy,
Relaxing your knees,
Your lower legs,
And your feet,
Your toes.
From top to bottom,
Soften every muscle,
Every bone.
No need to hold right now.
You have permission to rest and receive cleansing,
Renewal,
Relaxation.
We will now begin our journey of visualization using the power of our mind to work on cleansing our system from the inside out.
I'd like you to imagine that you're standing on the edge of a forest and connect with all of your senses to bring this scene alive.
You can feel the warmth of the sun shining on your face,
A gentle breeze caressing your skin.
You can hear the leaves on nearby trees rustling in the wind.
You listen closely for the songs of birds chirping,
A melodious song.
As you look around,
You can see a beautiful blue clear sky,
Green grass,
And bright colorful flowers,
Butterflies.
You take a deep breath in through your nose.
You smell the fragrances of pine,
Sweet grass,
And woodland smells from all of the trees ahead.
Imagine now that you place your hand on a nearby leaf,
Or tree,
Or flower,
Anything around you that you can touch to connect more deeply with your environment and feel yourself connecting to the nature.
You begin to walk on the trail where the sun is streaming down through the trees.
You hear the sound of running water.
This trail seems to be leading you closer and closer to the sound.
As you come out of the trees,
You notice a beautiful waterfall.
It is clear,
Pure,
And refreshing.
The waterfall runs into a deep pool that's surrounded by vibrant flowers,
Long grasses.
You walk toward the waterfall and you feel inspired to wash yourself clean and clear in the sparkling water.
You place your head underneath the waterfall,
Your whole body underneath the waterfall.
You sense it wash over your head and face and neck,
Over your shoulders,
Arms,
And hands,
Over the front and back sides of your body.
It's cleansing you.
It's refreshing you.
Take a moment to feel the cleansing effects of water and the sounds around you.
You begin to observe that there are colors now in the waterfall,
Turning to red and orange,
Bright yellow light,
Green,
Blue,
Indigo,
Violet.
There's a rainbow of colors washing over you.
As the rainbow colors begin to fade,
You walk out of the waterfall and take a dip in the beautiful blue pool.
The water is warm,
Relaxing.
You feel playful and full of life,
Joy,
Sense of peace.
You enjoy the feeling,
The warm softness caressing your body.
When you're ready,
You begin to climb out of your pool,
Feeling so grateful for this waterfall that cleansed you,
For this pool that brought you back to your joy,
To your true self.
After you thank the waterfall for your time,
You begin back on your trail where you began.
You spend a few minutes experiencing the warmth of the sun again on your face,
The scent of pine,
Fresh grass,
And the clear blue sky.
You take it all in.
We'll use this last minute to take it all in and simply rest,
Renewed,
Refreshed,
Revitalized.
And I'll bring you out when it's time.
I invite you to stay in this relaxed,
Renewed space as long as you'd like.
And when you're ready,
You'll begin to deepen your breath.
Take a few deep breaths,
Coming back into your body,
Moving in whichever way feels good and organic.
You are now ready to resume your day,
Feeling cleansed and refreshed in body,
Mind,
And energy.
