A guided meditation on tonglen or “taking and giving,” a Tibetan practice combining loving-kindness and compass to release our own pain, suffering, and loneliness. Tonglen practice can also be called “exchanging self with other." Tonglen is one of the mind training techniques from Tibetan Buddhism that reverses our ordinary state of mind of selfishly seeking happiness and pleasure for ourselves and those close to us. Instead, we willingly open ourselves to the suffering of others.
