Dear friends.
Welcome to this Evening Gratitude Reflection for Wednesday.
This is the fourth in a series of seven.
There is one reflection for each day of the week.
This session offers you a gentle reminder of some of the countless ways in which you have been supported in life.
So we begin by bringing ourselves gently into an awareness of the gift of this very moment.
This amazing present moment.
This day is nearly dawn.
So allow it to loosen its hold on you.
Let it go.
You know,
There is never an end to the to-do list.
So whatever remains unfinished just now.
Can wait for today.
We have tomorrow as well.
Right now,
Just enjoy being here.
And as before,
As we do in all of these sessions.
We return to the breath.
The breath that has carried you all the way through this day.
So breathe in.
And know that you are receiving this good air.
And as your breath leaves your body.
Allow it to be accompanied by all your worries and concerns.
Let them all go.
Notice your body resting where you are right now.
Supported by the Chair.
Precaution.
Are the ground beneath you.
Wherever you happen to be.
And we pause for one minute now.
To allow you to experience this sense of being really at rest.
Welcome back.
This evening,
I am grateful for my body,
Just as it is in this moment.
Even if right now it happens to be troubled by some aches or pains.
I'm grateful for the strength that carried me through this day.
And even for the limitations.
Because they remind me to move with greater care.
I'm grateful for my senses.
Senses that allow me to experience life,
That brings me to an awareness of my existence.
I reflect on all the countless movements I have made today.
Without conscious thought.
Lifting,
Reaching,
Walking,
Turning.
An endless number of movements.
And the fact that this variety of actions just happens almost without thinking.
And then there are the totally automatic processes.
I'm grateful for every part of me that continues its work without any intervention on my part.
The beating of my heart.
By breathing through the night.
This body of mine is America.
May I treat that miracle with kindness.
I'm grateful for the non-toothache.
A non-broken leg.
And all the parts of me that are functioning trouble-free.
I'm even grateful for the aches and pains.
They are reminders to me that I am alive.
They invite me to slow down and maybe ask for help.
As night approaches,
I offer thanks for this body.
That has carried me faithfully through this day.
And I trust it now to carry me gently into sleep.
And into tomorrow.
Namaste.
