The day is done and you made it through.
So let's find a comfortable position,
Lying down if you can or sitting wherever you are and close your eyes down when you're ready or if it feels good and let out whatever you've been holding on to.
Take one deep breath in through the nose and a slow sigh out through your mouth.
Let that sigh be you saying to the day,
I'm done.
Let's rest.
Bring your awareness to the top of your head and notice whatever is there.
Maybe some thoughts,
Tension,
The last echoes of the day.
And on your next exhale,
Imagine a gentle wave moving down through your body,
Soft,
Kind,
Gathering up everything that has happened today.
It moves down through your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your jaw,
Collecting any tightness from conversations,
From thinking,
From trying.
Down through your neck,
Your shoulders,
And your chest,
Gathering up any worry,
Any weight you've been carrying for yourself or others.
Down through your stomach,
Your hips,
And your legs,
All of it,
Every part of the day.
Through your knees,
Your calves,
Your ankles,
Your feet.
And as it reaches the bottoms of your feet,
Let it flow out of you,
Down into the earth,
Where it can rest and transform.
You don't need to hold on to any of it right now.
Now on your next inhale,
Draw up something different.
Imagine the earth sending up a soft,
Cool,
Peaceful energy,
Like moonlight rising through you.
Feel it enter through the soles of your feet,
Rising slowly,
Gently up through your ankles,
Your calves,
Your knees.
Feel yourself relax and let go.
Up into your thighs,
Your hips,
Your belly.
Feel the areas in your body.
Feel everything slow down and get quiet.
Let it rise into your chest,
Your heart,
Soothing any places that feel tired or tender.
Up through your shoulders,
Down your arms,
All the way to your fingertips.
Feeling peace fill your body.
And finally,
Up through your neck,
To the very top of your head.
Feel the energy shift in your body,
As if someone gently touched the volume knob and turned it down,
Until it was soft,
And quiet,
And still.
And you are now ready for rest.
Now,
Without any effort,
Just let your body settle deeper into wherever you are.
Feel the support beneath you holding all your weight,
And feel your breath moving on its own,
Slower,
Softer.
If there's any last movement in your body,
Let it be still.
Release it.
If there's any last thought,
Let it float by like a cloud.
You don't need to follow it anymore.
Just settling,
Just being,
Just resting.
Bringing one hand to your heart,
And one to your belly.
Feeling the quiet rhythm.
Take one final deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Receive these words,
I am clear,
I am safe,
And I rest now.
Let those words sink deep into you.
There's nothing more for you to do tonight.
Nothing to figure out,
Nothing to carry.
Just you,
Rest,
And whenever you're ready,
Drifting off to sleep.
