They can help us to feel calmer, improve our relationships and effectiveness, etc. However, the true purpose of meditation is to help us move closer to perceiving reality as it is, and ourselves as we are, by transcending attachment, aversion, and egoic tendencies which keep us in a state of delusion and suffering. With practice and dedication, we can move ever closer to our natural state. This is a 25 min talk followed by a 15 min guided meditation.
