Welcome to Journaling for Christmas Day.
This meditative journaling session is an opportunity to reflect on Christmas Day and the meaning of this day for you personally.
You can work with these journal prompts on Christmas Day or in the days leading up to it.
I have five journal prompts for you,
And to help you freewrite what is truly top of mind,
I will be giving you just two minutes with each question.
When 30 seconds remain,
I will cue you to wrap up your thoughts.
Of course,
If you'd like to spend more time with any of these questions,
You can feel free to pause me or return to them again later.
A fancy journal is not required for this practice.
Use whatever is available to you today,
Even if it is just a slip of paper or the Notes app on your phone.
You also don't have to write in complete sentences.
You can just write a few words in response,
You could doodle or draw,
Or if nothing comes to mind,
Simply sit and meditate on the questions.
Go ahead and grab any materials you'd like to use for journaling,
And find yourself a comfortable position to journal in.
Bring over any props that might help you feel nice and cozy,
Such as blankets or pillows.
Let's take a few breaths together before we get started to get ourselves to a more balanced and calm state of mind before we write.
Feel free to close your eyes while we breathe,
Or find an unmoving point to gaze upon.
Begin by releasing any breath that you are holding,
And breathe in,
Exhale,
Open mouth,
Sigh it out.
Inhale,
Exhale,
Sigh it out.
Take a few more breaths in and out of your nose at your own pace.
If your eyes were closed,
Gently blink them back open,
And bring your focus now to journaling.
Let's begin with our first prompt,
What are my favorite Christmas day traditions?
Again,
What are my favorite Christmas day traditions?
Begin to wrap up your thoughts.
Second,
How do I personally honor the spiritual significance of this day,
And why does it matter to me?
Again,
How do I personally honor the spiritual significance of this day,
And why does it matter to me?
Let your final thoughts flow onto the page.
Third,
How can I be more present with the spirit of this holiday and this day?
Again,
How can I be more present with the spirit of the holiday and this day?
Capture your final thoughts.
Fourth,
How can I show love to others on Christmas day?
Again,
How can I show love to others on Christmas day?
Let your final thoughts flow onto the page.
And finally,
How can I show love to myself on Christmas day?
Again,
How can I show love to myself on Christmas day?
Capture your final thoughts.
I hope that these journal prompts helped you reflect on the importance of this day for you.
With much love and gratitude,
I close our journaling session.
May you have a lovely holiday season and a beautiful Christmas day.
Thank you so much.
