I invite you to settle into a comfortable seat,
And while I talk for the next few moments,
Allow yourself to get really comfortable,
Inviting your feet to rest gently on the floor or beneath you,
To feel your body lean into whatever supportive surface you're utilizing right now.
To feel it holding you,
So that as you let your breath become a little deeper and a little slower,
You can begin to relax.
And if it feels good and right for you,
And you're not driving or walking down a busy street,
You might close your eyes or let your gaze soften so that your attention turns inward.
Every Monday,
I post about intention,
And intention isn't simply what we mean by something we do or say.
Intention in conscious creation is what we mean to bring about.
How do we want to move through life?
It's consciously stating what you choose to create in life.
And we are always creating,
We are always creating.
Look around you at your life.
You have created this experience,
And it is simply a reflection of your inner world.
There's a beautiful quote from the Bhagavad Gita that says,
Turning back on myself,
I create again and again.
You're continuing to breathe a little deeper and a little slower than your usual breath,
Settling in,
Relaxing your body,
Releasing your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your jaw,
Letting your ears lengthen away from your shoulders as they drop down and back.
Now feeling how there's even more space for your breath as your heart opens,
Your belly relaxes,
And keep going down,
Down,
Down,
Relaxing every little bit of your body,
Releasing any held tension.
This process of creation often occurs through what we put after two specific words.
As you breathe,
Gently supporting yourself in this moment,
Consider free of judgment what you often put after those two words in your regular life.
Just notice,
Just bring awareness to what your typical following of the words I am might be.
Let it come to mind.
Often we say things like,
I am exhausted.
I am frustrated.
I'm lost.
I'm at my wit's end.
I'm driving myself crazy.
I am is said to be the name of the original source,
The OG creator,
God,
The universe,
All that is,
Whatever you want to call it is often simply called the I am that I am.
And so in a sense,
When we use those words I am,
We are an all-powerful creator.
And coming back to intention,
If you are setting your intention for your life,
For your day,
For a meeting,
For your relationship,
And what follows those two words is negative,
We're not creating what our heart desires,
We're creating more from what we don't want.
A strong intention creates from what we do want.
And so today during this meditation,
I invite you to set your intention by using the phrase I am and putting what you want to experience after those words.
And you put it in a way that it is the essence of that which you want to experience.
Some examples might be,
I am grace.
As I say each example,
Maybe just try it on for a moment,
Repeat it back in your mind and breathe it in so that your body experiences it,
Your cells breathe it in.
Another example might be,
I am strength.
I am perfect health.
I am vibrancy.
I am trust.
I am peace.
I am confidence.
I am ease and flow.
I am joy.
I am attuned to my very nature.
Now take a moment and reflect on what feels the most supportive for you right now.
You might choose just one,
You might choose two or three,
And you'll repeat this affirmation,
I am,
Three times.
With three breaths.
Let's do it together once and then you'll do it three times on your own.
So as you inhale,
You will say to yourself out loud if it's okay in your space or in your mind,
I am,
And you're breathing it in and letting it settle,
Letting it settle right inside of your very being.
I am,
And as you exhale,
Let the energy of those words,
The actual feeling of being that affirmation,
As you blow out,
As you breathe out,
Let it surround you,
Let it take up space.
And now on your own,
Three times,
Repeating your unique,
Authentic I am statement while you breathe it in and then exhale it so that it surrounds you.
And now you can release the phrase,
But keep the energy.
And for the next few minutes,
Simply breathe in the beingness of the statement.
And if your mind wanders,
That's okay.
Bring it back to your breath.
When you catch it,
Repeat your affirmation and begin again.
If your mind has wandered down a rabbit hole,
Bring it back with your breath.
Repeat your affirmation and begin again.
Notice how you feel as you've breathed in this beautiful affirmation that you've created for yourself and let it expand around you with your exhale.
Notice how your body feels.
Notice if there's any tingling sensations or a new vibrancy or lightness in your heart.
Notice how it feels to be this intention,
To be this affirmation.
And with another breath or two,
Begin to come back into the presence of your body with a slightly deeper breath to let your nervous system know that something is about to change.
You might begin to wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes,
Move your wrists and ankles.
Maybe move your neck,
Your head,
Your shoulders.
And then let out a nice,
Deep,
Cleansing,
Relieving,
Releasing sigh.
And gently,
Gently open your eyes.
Remember as you move throughout the rest of your day and your week that you are always creating.
So pay attention to the quality of your breath.
To the quality of your thoughts.
And if they aren't supporting your wellbeing,
Your happiness,
Your peace,
Your health,
You can simply change your mind.
Choose a new thought,
Choose a new behavior,
And hey,
Even come back to this meditation as often as needed.
