Current life review.
This isn't a life review to just relive or uncover lots of sad or difficult times.
That's not to say those times weren't really important parts of your learning and growth.
This meditation is to reflect on some moments that gave meaningful content and context to the person you are today.
Gently close your eyes.
Breathe softly.
Find stillness.
Know that you are safe.
Take a moment now to recognize what's already present within you.
What is your internal world like at this moment?
Now breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out and let it all go.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out and let it all go.
In your mind start drifting back further and further in this lifetime.
Don't attach dates at this point.
Just drift back,
Back,
Back,
All the way back until you sense the experience of being inside your mother's womb.
It might even feel like you're shrinking as you mentally go back in time.
It's warm in your mother's womb and a dull light surrounds you.
Sometimes you're aware of muffled sounds penetrating through your mother's belly.
Or maybe you notice those frequent familiar internal vibrations when your mother speaks.
You're protected,
Nourished and safe within the amniotic sac you're suspended in.
Whether this pregnancy was planned or not,
Eventually you are born into bright,
Noisy,
Confusing world.
When you're wrapped firmly in a warm blanket and held by someone you feel safe and cared for.
In your mind just bring yourself forward into your infancy and then into early childhood.
You may hover on one or two memories or be held by a general sense of what life was like for you when you were that little.
What did you enjoy doing the most?
How would you spend long summer days?
Even at this tender age you will have learnt lessons.
What was an important lesson you learnt?
If the lesson was in any way difficult to experience,
Offer compassion and understanding to your younger self.
Now in your mind's eye see stretching out before you a lengthy row of numbered helium balloons.
Each one looks to be tied to a long washing line by a piece of string.
This timeline starts with the age of the young child you see yourself as now and goes all the way up to your actual age.
So if you feel like you're around four years old now at this point but you're actually 49,
You'll see a row of numbered balloons starting four,
Next one will be five,
Then six,
Going all the way up to 47,
48,
49.
Give yourself a moment to see this timeline of balloons in front of you.
If you don't see things clearly in this way just think about the row of numbered helium balloons.
Along that line of numbers there were some crucial moments in your personal development that you can revisit with the benefit and wisdom of hindsight.
To go along the row of balloons until you perhaps reach early teenage years,
Maybe you're 13 or 14 you choose.
What were you like?
Reflect honestly and in a balanced way.
You'll find one memory comes to you easily.
As it unfolds try to experience what it felt like to be you at that time.
If it's a good memory really enjoy it,
Really understand how it could have helped shape who you are today.
Let the whole memory fill you with pride and joy and excitement.
Just revel for a few moments in whatever great emotions come to the surface.
If the memory's not so good as it unfolds try to understand all parts of the experience or the situation.
Who was involved?
Why did things happen as they did?
Offer forgiveness to yourself and to others who are part of the scenario.
Now reimagine the whole circumstance but now see things turning out better.
Replace previous negative feelings with more positive ones like happiness,
Pleasure or fulfillment.
Whatever the memory,
When you feel ready cut the string to that numbered balloon.
Watch it gently float away.
How do you feel?
Start moving along the row of numbered balloons again until you come to a number from young adulthood.
Consider what life was like for you back then.
How would you spend your time?
Was there someone you were close to then who you don't have contact with now?
Like before,
One memory may be more prominent for you.
What comes to mind as you look back on yourself at that time?
As you consider whatever comes to the surface,
Really experience all those old feelings again.
Again,
If it's a great memory do your best to relish in it.
Give yourself credit where it's due and feel gratitude for the experience or the situation and the people who were part of this memory.
If the memory wasn't so great,
With your 20-20 hindsight try to understand and appreciate why things happened as they did.
It's important to send love to your old self and if it's needed forgive both yourself and others who were part of the situation.
Now envisage the remembered experience being happier and healthier for you.
Replace negative feelings with more positive ones like joy and thankfulness and pleasure.
Regardless of the type of memory,
Cut the string to that numbered balloon and let go of all the negative feelings.
Cut the string to that numbered balloon and watch it float away.
See it going higher and higher until you can no longer see it.
How do you feel?
Slowly now you're going to move along the row of numbered balloons.
Briefly seeing times that were maybe great and times that were perhaps hard.
Relive the experiences that have meaning.
Contemplate how each situation or experience has influenced who you are today.
Then release the situation by cutting the string that ties that numbered balloon to your timeline.
I'm going to leave you here for a few minutes so that you have time to move along the whole row of numbered balloons.
Take your time.
If you haven't reached there already,
Move all the way to the end of the numbered balloons.
Cutting strings as you go and releasing the balloons to drift off out of sight.
Breathe deeply and exhale fully and completely three or four times.
Slowly and gently start to make small movements.
Let these movements get bigger.
When you feel completely ready,
Start to stretch.
Just open your eyes.
You may wish to journal some of your experiences and feelings while they're fresh and vivid.
I'll leave you here.
Namaste you beautiful bright light.
Namaste you beautiful bright light.
