A breath of air starts at your nose, flows through your trachea, and into your lungs where the bronchiole and alveoli maintain the exchange of gases. There are 30,000 bronchiole and 600,000,000 alveoli in your lungs. Take time to imagine the expanse of your lungs today.

Close your eyes and become comfortable with the space that surrounds you.

Notice the points of your body that engage with the surface beneath.

Drop and relax your shoulders.

Soften and relax your jaw.

Deep inhale through the nose and inflate your belly.

Touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your teeth and slow exhale through the mouth.

This is how you'll breathe throughout this meditation.

Deep inhale through the nose and imagine your lungs as an upside down tree in your body.

Slow exhale through the mouth.

Deep inhale and notice your breath as it comes in through your nose.

Filters through your nasal passages and flows down through your trachea,

The trunk of your lung tree.

Slow exhale through the mouth.

Deep inhale and feel the breath flowing through the branches and into the bronchi,

The leaves of your tree.

Slow exhale.

Deep inhale through the nose and notice the bronchi diverge into 30,

000 bronchioles in your lungs.

Slow exhale and notice that your lung tree is full and vibrant.

Beautiful green leaves caressed by a gentle breeze on a warm sunny day.

Deep inhale and see breath flow from the bronchioles to the alveoli.

600 million alveoli blossoms in your lungs.

Slow exhale and using your inner senses,

See the colors,

Smell the aroma,

Gently touch the petals of the blossoming alveoli in your lungs.

Deep inhale and see the tree,

The leaves,

The blossoms in your outer world.

One trachea,

Two lungs,

30,

000 bronchioles,

600 million alveoli.

Slow exhale and see your massive lung tree standing upright in an open meadow.

Perhaps some of the leaves and blossoms carpet the ground beneath the tree.

Deep inhale and bring the blossoms into your lungs.

Slow exhale and the blossoms flow out into the atmosphere to be shared with all of life that surrounds you.

Deep inhale and coming back into present time now.

Exhale and notice the space that surrounds you.

Notice the points of your body that touch the surface where you sit.

Notice the energy around you,

The space you take up in the room.

Notice the expanse of your lungs.

You are safe.

You are secure.

You are at peace.

You are loved.
