Steady in life.
Steadiness is the ability to anchor oneself in soul space and take power and peace only from that realm.
We all have pressures and demands placed on us,
But the knack of staying linked to our real center and not being disturbed or pushed out of a center is real stability.
When you first learn to ride a bike,
You carefully focus at first and then you naturally keep your balance.
In the same way,
We have to keep practicing this meditation on steadiness until it becomes second nature for us to anchor ourselves in soul space.
The world is increasingly chaotic.
There are so many twists and turns we have to navigate in the new normal that we must nurture our calm center and tether to it.
When you have steadily anchored yourself,
No matter what goes on around you,
You know that you can re-anchor to your soul center because you've done it many times and then no situation or person can hijack us out of our center.
Another key to anchoring is to use spiritual knowledge in both meditation and action.
For example,
Even if you fall off a bike,
You pick yourself up and keep going.
Steadiness helps to keep riding the bike of life.
All of us are going to lose control sometimes and wisdom helps us get back on and keep riding.
In this meditation,
We will learn to be steady and constant while traversing the ups and downs of life.
Sit up straight and breathe in and out slowly.
Mentally,
Do a scan of your body.
Notice if you're holding any tension in any part of your body.
It could be your shoulders,
Your stomach area or anywhere else.
Now breathe in deeply,
Visualizing that breath going to that tense part of your body.
Hold the breath there for a few seconds and release the breath while relaxing that part of your body.
Let's do it again.
Take a deep breath,
Imagining you're sending oxygen going to another tense part of your body.
Hold the breath there for a few seconds and release it while relaxing it.
Take another deep breath,
Hold it for a few seconds and release it while decompressing and relaxing your whole body.
Now become aware of any negative emotions you're holding inside of yourself.
Slowly take a deep breath and while releasing that breath,
Release those emotions.
Now imagine light traveling from your feet to your abdomen,
To your shoulders and then to the center of your forehead.
While this light is progressing up your body,
It is diffusing all your stresses and you're becoming calmer and calmer.
Now focus the light in the center of your forehead.
As you stay focused,
There is a powerful feeling of centeredness.
You understand that this is your spiritual center of gravity.
Imagine a gray screen in front of you.
Visualize a beautiful sparkling star on the screen.
Keep looking at the luminous star.
Very gently you begin to accept that this is an image of you,
The soul.
You are light.
Now shift your focus to the center of your forehead again.
See yourself as light,
A luminous being in your forehead.
Keep preserving this image of yourself,
A beautiful sparkling star behind the eyes in your forehead for the next few moments.
Gradually you begin to accept and anchor to your soul space.
You visualize yourself as a being of light and fill your center with power and equanimity.
Bring to mind a relationship or situation that makes you fall off the bike of life,
A time when you don't feel steady.
Now replace that scene in your mind's eye and see yourself as luminous spiritual energy.
This is your core,
Your spiritual center of gravity.
The more you anchor to this soul space,
You feel serene.
In this moment you understand the need to keep cool in relationships.
You also grasp that there is an equally important element to being stable on the bike of life,
To be both loving and detached from expectations in your relationships.
Take a moment now and see yourself being equally loving and detached in your relationships.
Take a deep breath in and while releasing ask yourself the question,
What is one virtue,
One spiritual power I need right now?
What quality,
What spiritual strength do I need to keep going?
Take a moment and be still and notice the answer that comes up.
Slowly and gently anchor in your wisdom and stillness.
From this place of stillness you begin to see that quality within you.
All the spiritual resources you need are right within you.
This thought is bringing you into a complete state of equanimity.
You,
The soul,
Are becoming cheerful.
You have within you the ability to generate your own steady peace and joy.
All you have to do is cultivate a daily spiritual practice of coming home to your true self.
Om Shanti.
I am peace.
