Thank you for being here today.
We're just going to take a few minutes to remember that you are part of nature.
That we all are nature itself.
And so getting really comfortable,
Easing your body into the chair or the bed,
The ground beneath you,
Finding ways to soften a little bit more.
And first we will work with water,
The element of water in your body,
Seeing if you can tap into the gentle pulse of your blood moving all throughout your body.
Water carrying your life force,
Head to toe,
Effortlessly.
And maybe you can think of tears that you've shed.
Your body naturally creates water to express emotion.
And remembering your spinal fluid that supports your brain function,
That communicates messages from your brain throughout the rest of your body.
Your synovial fluid in your joints,
Supporting your movement,
Your dance,
Your play.
Maybe bringing your awareness to the saliva in your mouth,
The sweat on your palms.
It doesn't have to be glamorous.
You are made of water.
This abundant element throughout your entire body,
With you throughout your entire life.
And maybe using your breath to create a tide rising and falling as if you were the ocean itself.
And continuing to be aware of your breath,
Moving to the element of air.
As you inhale,
See what scents are on the air.
Maybe there's a flower or a candle.
Maybe someone is preparing food with love.
And inhaling those scents through your nose,
Through your mouth,
Bringing the outside world inside your body.
Welcoming these molecules from your environment in through your nose,
All the way into your lungs.
Seeing how your breath changes the shape of your ribcage,
How powerful that air is.
And maybe you can take a deep,
Deep breath into your lungs and hold it.
Holding that air inside your body before releasing it back into the world.
Your breath is something that you can control when you want to,
And that is always there for you,
Even if you are unaware of it and not interacting with it.
It's got you.
Maybe sending a little bit of gratitude to this element of air.
Before moving to the element of earth.
Remembering that we are made of stardust.
Every bit of you is the same as every bit of all other living creatures of all parts of the cosmos.
The same building blocks.
And that every time you shed hair or skin cells,
They return back to the earth to be reused in some new way.
Knowing that the land that you are on now holds the bones of generation after generation of humans and other beings.
They are present.
They create fertile soil to grow our food.
You are earth,
And earth is you.
A continuous cycle.
And finally,
Coming to the element of fire.
Maybe you experience fire in your body as a spark of creativity.
Or as a warm glow of love.
Or as fiery rage at the injustice of the world.
Remembering how we depend on fire to keep us warm,
To cook our food,
To transmute one thing into another.
Our bodies create heat,
Generating what we need to regulate our body temperatures.
You have the power of fire inside you.
And now coming back into your human form that holds water,
Air,
Earth,
And fire.
And also you,
Your memories,
Your experiences,
Your personality,
All of it.
Allowing it all to settle in together as you become aware of your fingers and toes,
Of the length of your spine.
Maybe blinking your eyes open and taking in your environment.
And carrying this sense of wonder,
This sense of connectedness with you for the rest of your day.
Thank you.
