Greetings,
My darlings,
And welcome to this meditation inspired by the Roman goddess Diana.
Diana is the goddess of the hunt,
Of wild animals and woodland and the moon.
She is a powerful huntress and beautiful goddess who will guide our meditation this evening.
So take a little time here to allow yourself to relax.
Create a soft and warm space in which you can sit or lay down comfortably.
As you gently close the eyes,
Allow your breath to be your focus.
Allow the rise and fall of the breath to gently guide you into a place of calm and peace.
Each inhale,
Drawing in a little peace,
A little calm,
A little restfulness,
And each exhale,
A letting go.
Let go of the busy thoughts of your day.
Let go of the stresses and worries or whispers of yesterday that you carry with you.
Even if it is just for the next few minutes,
Take this opportunity to let go,
To surrender and let the earth support you.
From this place of restfulness and ease,
In our minds I will imagine ourselves walking slowly through a lush green forest.
Dusk is falling and the sky above you is darkening with beautiful shades of blues and indigos.
Little tall trees rise to the sky around you and you walk slowly and calmly,
Perhaps with a little weariness from your day.
You carry with you a great silver bow in your arms and you are clad in armor.
As you continue to walk through the forest,
You come to a clearing.
Dusk has now fallen and passed and a great moon has risen in the sky.
It casts a beautiful silvery light on this clearing and running through this space of green is a babbling brook,
A gentle stream,
Sparkling splashes of water.
Making your way to the water,
You see for the first time your reflection,
Clad in beautiful shining armor carrying your silver bow.
You are strong and you are powerful.
Even if perhaps you don't feel that way right now,
You have fought great battles today,
Do not forget that.
Whether those battles were rising early with the alarm clock,
Heading for a long day of work to earn money to put food on the table.
Perhaps at some point today you spoke up in a meeting or had a difficult conversation with someone you love.
Maybe today you endured a day of a chronic illness or injury.
Maybe you just made it through the day.
All of these are valid and powerful battles that we fight daily.
So even if right now you don't feel strong and powerful,
Try and hold somewhere in the back of your mind that you are a powerful warrior.
There is great strength within you and some days that strength will come out in big amazing actions and some days it will just be that you rise in the morning and go to work and get the things done you need to get done.
They are all battles in their own way.
Maybe today you rested because you are healing or recovering.
Maybe you spent today caring for someone else.
These are all victories.
But as we come to the end of the day,
It is time to set down your armour.
In our beautiful forest clearing we'll take a seat by the water's edge,
Taking off our shoes and dipping our feet into the water of the stream.
It trickles and tinkles over our feet and between our toes,
Cool and refreshing,
Washing away fatigue from our tired toes.
There you set down your silver bow and you unclip your armour and let it fall beside you,
Glinting in the moonlight.
You feel a little lighter for setting down this heaviness you have carried through the day,
The things you have needed to achieve.
They are done for now.
It is time for you to take a little rest.
Restful in this space of green and calm.
Perhaps you can smell on the night air pine needles,
Lush green ferns,
The earthy scent of soil and moss,
And maybe on the gentle breeze,
The floral scent of night blooming jasmine and honeysuckle.
The moon shines light on the water beneath you and it sparkles gently and casts a cool light around your surroundings so that you can see the great trees and plants around you.
The space is cool and calm but you still feel warm and comfortable in this place,
Connected to nature,
Reconnecting to the earth and finding a little slowing down as we transition from day to evening and into the night.
As you rest here,
Letting the final layers of the day fall away,
Feeling calm and content.
Perhaps you notice to your side a little rustle in the trees and leaves beside you,
So peaceful and animal gently appears by your side and looks into your eyes.
Your eyes are kind and restful and it may be as you look upon this animal,
Whatever this animal may be in your mind's eye,
They may have a message for you that you hear as you look upon them or it may be the symbol of the animal itself that is your message this evening or perhaps this animal simply invites you to rest within nature,
Within the beauty of the natural world of the animal kingdom.
A kindness and love passes between you as a final glance of this animal towards you as they drift back into the woods between the trees onwards on their own journey this night.
As we take just a few peaceful minutes in our woodland space of calm,
Take time to reflect upon the space around you,
The day that is now done and the evening and rest that lay before you.
As our time in our woodland retreat comes to an end,
If you are restful and bared and you would like to just continue drifting off to sleep,
Feel free to just stay as you are,
Restful and calm,
A warrior that is taking their time to surrender and rest as they have truly earned today.
If you are coming back to the world for the rest of your evening,
Feel free to gently wiggle fingers and toes,
Stretch the body if you wish and when you are ready to do so,
Gently open the eyes and as you move through your evening,
Beautiful warrior,
Be kind and calm,
Take time to enjoy your evening in your warm and restful home.
It is very well earned.
Thank you for joining me my warriors.
I will see you soon.
