Welcome to this meditation for peaceful sleep.
This is your time to let go of the day and prepare your mind and body for a restful night.
Let's gently release any tension,
Quiet your thoughts,
And invite deep relaxation.
So go ahead and find a comfortable position,
Either lying down or sitting in a way that feels supportive.
Let your hands rest lightly and if it feels safe gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Feeling your chest rise fully.
Hold it for a moment and now exhale slowly through your mouth.
Releasing any tension or heaviness.
Take another deep breath in,
Filling your body with calm.
Hold it briefly and exhale again,
Letting go of the busyness of the day.
With each breath let yourself sink more deeply into the comfort of the surface beneath you.
Now bring your attention to your body.
Notice how it feels as it settles into stillness.
Start at the top of your head and slowly scan down,
Noticing any areas of tension or tightness.
Let your forehead soften.
Relax the muscles around your eyes.
Unclench your jaw and notice the tension you might have been holding there.
Now breathe into your shoulders.
Allow them to release and drop away from your ears.
Feel your arms growing heavier and your hands completely at ease.
Notice the rise and fall of your chest with each breath,
Your body finding its natural rhythm.
Soften your belly and let your lower back and then your upper back relax into the support beneath you.
Feel your legs,
Your shins,
Your calves,
Your feet and your toes.
Every part of you letting go,
Surrendering.
Now imagine a soft warm light surrounding you,
A soothing and calming light.
This light wraps around you like a cozy blanket,
Gently melting away any tension or worries.
Breathe deeply and with each inhale draw in its peaceful energy and with each exhale release anything that no longer serves you.
The stress,
The busyness,
The need to do or think.
Let it all go.
Surrender.
Soften.
Just picture the events of the day as leaves floating on a gentle stream.
Each leaf represents a thought,
A task or a moment from the day.
Now just watch them drift slowly away,
Carried by the water,
Gently flowing away.
There's no need to hold on to them.
They're simply moving out of your mind,
Leaving spaciousness for rest.
As you rest here,
Silently repeat these affirmations,
I am safe and at peace.
I let go of the day with ease.
My body is relaxed and my mind is calm.
I allow myself to drift into deep restful sleep.
Let these words become your truth as your body and mind surrender fully to rest.
Now simply enjoy the state of relaxation.
Feel the peace that fills you,
The quiet that surrounds you.
There's nothing you need to do,
No place you need to be.
Just this moment of deep,
Calm,
Inviting sleep to come naturally.
Allow yourself to remain in this restful state as long as you like.
When sleep comes,
Welcome it with ease,
Knowing that you've set aside this time for your own care and renewal.
Feel the softness of your breath and the warmth of your body as you start to drift.
Sweet dreams.
