Welcome to your meditation space.
In today's session I will guide you through a little ritual to welcome a new day.
We will be using the sunrise as a contemplation tool.
You can also do this meditation whenever you wake up,
Even if it's a bit later than sunrise.
Just make sure you start surrounded by darkness so that you can really feel that transition between night and daylight.
The only thing you will need to carry out this ritual is a candle.
Any shape,
Any size will do.
And of course make sure you also have a lighter or some matches.
Let's get started.
We will begin by observing the complete darkness just with some outer light maybe coming from your window or your door.
Just observe the dark space around you and take a seat on the floor,
On the bed or a chair.
Close your eyes gently and if you want you can use your hands to cover your face and create even a darker space.
Now breathe deeply three times.
Take your time.
Imagine the color black or dark blue.
Imagine the darkness around you.
Imagine the night,
The calmness and peace during a quiet and dark night.
Breathe deeply three more times.
Now open your eyes gently and slowly allowing your body to get used to the change in lighting.
Take your candle and light it up without rushing anything.
Savor each step,
Each detail as if it was a very important and special ritual.
Place the candle in front of you or near you and observe the light of the candle.
Breathe naturally as slowly as possible,
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the nose as well.
Pay attention to the colors in the flame,
The smell of the candle,
The shapes,
The forms,
The change in tones.
Imagine that new and warm light coming your way,
The light of the candle,
Navigating the darkness and reaching out towards you as the Sun does every single day.
Keep observing the candle and its light.
Observe the transition between night and day,
Darkness and light.
Very good.
Now if you are near a window,
Open the blinds,
Allow the light to come into your room.
If you are watching the Sun rise,
Observe the colors in the sky.
But if it's cloudy or you can't see the Sun,
Then imagine it shining behind the clouds or the fog.
And once again,
Just take a moment to contemplate that transition,
The power of the Sun,
The power of a new day,
The light and energy that are reaching towards you.
Take one more second to breathe in that new energy,
To face this new day.
Breathe deeply,
Taking energy and oxygen in.
Remember that you have survived all your bad days so far.
Despite the circumstances,
You're still here,
Awake.
Remember you have a new chance today to share,
To connect,
To thank for,
To live and to enjoy.

Breath by breath.
