This meditation is dedicated to the winter solstice, which we celebrate on the night of the 21st of December in 2020. The winter solstice means that we will have the longest night of the year, but also it represents a moment of change. This is a perfect moment to reflect upon the past year and to start planning the next one. What do I need for this little ritual/meditation? A couple of tea light candles and a bigger candle.

Hi guys,

Welcome to my channel.

Today we are going to do a guided meditation and today we are celebrating the winter solstice.

So I think this is the perfect time for reflection and renewal.

It is time to take some new energy,

To start a new season and also very shortly a new year as well.

So I think it is just worthy to take some time today to do this meditation together and to reflect a little bit upon the changes that may come and why they are so important.

So as you know tonight will be the longest night of the year and that will mean a lot of darkness but it is also a new beginning as from now on the days will be longer and we will enjoy some more sunlight.

So that really reminds me of this concept based on the idea that all bad things and all the things that make us uncomfortable or anxious or worried,

All of that must end as the seasons and nature works in cycles,

Our emotions and thoughts also work in cycles.

So everything is temporary really and the seasons and the nature around us help us to understand this concept.

And tonight we are celebrating the end of a season and also the beginning of a new one.

So for today's meditation you will need some candles,

Maybe you can have some small tea lights and maybe a bigger candle and you will also need some matches or a lighter to light them up.

So we will be doing a guided meditation and we will start by taking a few moments to tune in and breathe deeply to really set up the atmosphere and to allow our body to relax before we start this meditation.

So we are just going to breathe in and out through our nose as deeply and slowly as possible and we will be counting from one to four on the inhale and from four to one on the exhale.

So whenever you are ready just gently close your eyes,

Make sure you are sitting down in a comfortable position,

Nice and tall and that you have your candles and your matches or lighter in front of you.

So close your eyes here,

Relax your shoulders and let's start by breathing in through our nose on the counts of one,

Two,

Three,

Four and exhale through your nose four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Inhale again one,

Two,

Three,

Four and exhale four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Inhale again through the nose,

Keep counting and exhale through your nose four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Keep going at your own pace.

With every inhale you try to fill in your belly and chest with new air and on every exhale you remove the air from your chest and your belly.

Breathe in deeply and slowly and breathe out through your nose as deeply and as slowly as you can.

Keep counting from one to four and from four to one.

Inhale and exhale through your nose.

And let's start reflecting upon this cycle concept.

So seasons are just like cycles that go on and on and on and they bear changes.

They bring new life but they also experience loss and decay.

So really it's all about creating new opportunities and new things but also letting them grow and then letting them go and die.

We need the winter to be able to enjoy the spring and the summer.

So let's welcome this new season with that in mind and let's also apply that concept to our lives,

Our emotions and thoughts.

Everything works in cycles and there are ups and there are also downs but it's all part of this process.

So just really think about that and how you can apply it to your daily life or to your emotions or feelings and thoughts that you may be having lately.

And when you're ready,

Very gently open up your eyes and take your lighter or matches and let's light up the biggest candle.

Take your time and light it up and then little by little you are going to light up the smaller candles with the bigger candle.

As you light them up one by one,

Think about what this new light is going to mean for you.

What are the new opportunities that you may have in this new season,

In this new year coming ahead?

What is really opening up in the horizon?

And as you have all your candles now shining,

Let's just close our eyes for a second and meditate on what must end,

What should we let go of so that new things can grow and flourish.

What would you like to get rid of,

To leave behind you with this past season so that new things can be welcomed in the following one?

And slowly open up your eyes again and let this new light that the candles represent but also imagine the light of the sun and imagine how the days are going to be longer now,

We will have more sunlight.

So let all this light come inside you,

Let it shine through your body and mind.

Grow new energy from this light and let it flow throughout your body and mind.

Feel its warmth,

How this new light brings new opportunities,

New beginnings,

New things and for today's meditation,

Especially because we are celebrating the winter solstice,

I have chosen this mantra which is called the Gayatri Mantra and it is dedicated to the sun and I really like it because it's in some way honouring the sun which is often somehow a bit underrated or overlooked and in fact the sun always gives us light day after day and light is one of the most precious things we've got and the sun keeps on going and giving but it asks for nothing in return.

So maybe take inspiration from this concept,

Maybe see how you could implement that in your daily life or how could you relate to that and the Gayatri Mantra goes like this Om Bhurbhava Svaha Tatsavito Varniyam Bhargo Devasya Dimaai Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayaat.

So let the sun inspire you,

Let it bring you this new light full of opportunities,

Full of hope and joy and strength and warmth and welcome this new season with all your heart because it's going to be full of opportunities.

We are now going to finish up this guided meditation session by doing a short breathing exercise again as we did at the beginning.

So breathe deeply through your nose and exhale through your nose as deeply and slowly as you can.

Breathe in again and welcome this new season and exhale and remember that sometimes we must let go so that new things can grow.

Breathe in again one last time and breathe out through your nose.

I really hope this guided meditation helped you with the beginning of the new season.

It helped you reflect upon how change and endings are necessary so that new things can begin.

I hope it also brought you some inner peace and maybe some hope and joy for the new season ahead and I'll see you for the next guided meditation here in my channel.

Thanks for sharing your time with me today.

Namaste.
