Hello and welcome to this guided meditation.
I'm Richard Willis and my voice will guide you in a practice for relaxation and self-reflection.
So settle yourself into a comfy position and let your eyes close.
Allow the body to settle,
Let the muscles soften and notice your breath,
Its rhythm,
Its flow in and out.
And as you watch the breath,
The body relaxes further and the mind relaxes allowing it to contemplate,
To reflect.
Now there is an old teaching that within each of us live two wolves,
A wolf of light and a wolf of darkness.
The wolf of light is kind,
Generous and compassionate.
The wolf of darkness is full of anger,
Greed and ego.
Both are locked in a desperate fight.
Which one wins?
The answer is the one you feed.
Reflect on this for your own life.
Think of a situation you would like to improve your response to.
Maybe a situation that tends to bring up feelings of irritation,
Greed,
Procrastination.
The pull of the wolf of darkness,
A pull towards behavior that doesn't help,
Doesn't serve you.
How can you feed the wolf of light instead?
What behavior would you like to choose?
How can you give your attention,
Your energy to the wolf of light?
Picture yourself responding to that situation in a positive way.
Imagine yourself feeling positive emotions as you do so.
Maybe calm or confident or loving.
Feel that now.
Let the positive feeling fill you up as you imagine yourself responding so well to that situation.
Your focus on the positive feeds the wolf of light.
Spend a minute now imagining yourself in this new positive behavior.
See it.
Hear it.
Feel it.
Feed your wolf of light.
Now think of the benefits that this positive behavior will give you in your life.
Let it all make sense to you,
In heart and in mind.
And then open your eyes.
Bringing yourself back into the space you're in,
Fully into the present moment.
Bringing with you that energy and positivity for your wolf of light.
