So self-compassion.
So important.
Let's get into this because many of us speak to ourselves in ways we would never speak to someone we love.
And I want to reframe that.
Our minds speak to us in that way.
It's automatic thinking patterns that speak to us in that way.
And when we can recognize this is my mind.
What about me?
That's the start of self-compassion.
If we don't recognize that and we're looking from those thoughts we become our harshest critic.
And when we're going through a tough time during struggle,
Making mistakes,
Emotional pain,
As if that wasn't bad enough.
That inner critic will come in and kick us while we're down.
That's just what happens to us as humans when we're going through a difficult time.
One thing I'd love you to take from this is that This is normal.
It's normal.
It's just that.
Most people don't talk about it,
Right?
It's normal to go through this and when we can.
Experience.
It in that way from that.
Perspective.
This is part of the human condition.
This is normal.
There's other people that struggle as well.
That's all so.
Another major facet to.
Compassion,
But particularly self-compassion.
Research continues to show that self-compassion supports in so many ways resilience,
Um.
.
.
It helps with overall mood.
It helps us to be grounded and appreciate more moments of meaningful connection.
Deepening the sense of connection that we have to others,
But also to ourselves.
That's ultimately what it's about,
Right?
You are.
Deepening a sense of connection to yourself.
So self-compassion is not letting ourselves off the hook.
It's not about being weak.
It's not about being suki or self-absorbed.
It's actually the opposite to all of those things because what we do is we pause for a reason.
We're going through a tough time.
The inner critic's quite harsh.
The emotions are sharp.
We pause and take time to acknowledge.
What's going on for us?
Acknowledging the struggle.
And responding with kindness.
That's the essence of self-compassion.
Acknowledging that you're going through a struggle,
Being raw and real about that.
This is hard.
I've got these inner critic thoughts again.
Here's these feelings again.
I don't like them.
I don't want them.
But right here and now I'm here for me.
I know that other people have them as well.
Acknowledge your struggle.
Responding with kindness.
What can I say to myself right now that is kind?
What could I do for myself right now that is kind?
It's a practice,
It's not the default mode of the mind to practice self-compassion,
Just like it's not the default mode of the mind for gratitude or self-kindness or acceptance or mindfulness,
Right?
We have to intentionally do these things to make them more prevalent in our lives.
And that's why you're here on this app,
Right?
You're drawing on resources to benefit yourself.
You deserve this.
You deserve self-compassion.
And deep down,
Even though the mind might disagree,
Deep down,
You know that you do.
Because you're here watching this video.
Anyway,
I hope that helps.
See you next time.
