Understanding The Spotlight Effect
by Reuben Lowe
You replay the awkward thing you said for hours, certain everyone noticed — when in truth they'd forgotten by lunch. This session explains the spotlight effect: our tendency to badly overestimate how much other people notice and judge us, when they're mostly wrapped up in their own worries. This session offers a calming, freeing reframe for social anxiety and the replay loop. It is ideal for navigating social anxiety, overthinking, self-consciousness, and embarrassment, while fostering self-compassion.
