Welcome.
This guided meditation and breathing practice was offered by Renée Seals for Somatic Space.
Somatic Space is a weekly embodied astrology class where we practice attuning through our bodies with current astrological influences.
For this meditation please find yourself in a comfortable position where you can breathe easily.
Take a moment and just stretch intuitively,
Maybe close your eyes,
Feel into your body.
Maybe rub your face a little bit or flutter out your lips.
And as you breathe and stretch and maybe rub your face or rub your chest,
Arrive with yourself and try and tune in and remember the essence that has brought you here to this moment today,
To this practice,
To this space.
And let's honor the essence of our intentions and take a moment just to breathe with them and offer the fruits of our practice to them.
And in a bigger,
Wider way,
Let's breathe into the possibility and the hope that the fruits of our practice and the intentions and essence that brings us here can be in service to all beings and to the greatest good of life and the beauty of life here on earth.
And then let your arms reach down towards the earth and turn your palms so that they're facing the ground and connect in with your base.
So wherever your body is heaviest on the ground,
If you're seated,
This will be your seat and your legs.
If you're lying down,
It's the surface of your body that's earthwards.
And let's reach from our hands as if we could reach into the earth.
And as we breathe,
Let's inhale and imagine that we can draw up source,
We can resource from earth with earth.
And as we exhale,
Let's direct our intention and energy back into the earth,
Remembering and reminding ourselves that from earth we come and from earth we will return.
And let's breathe some breaths of gratitude and appreciation and maybe even awe for the beauty of this phenomenal planet,
This being that is alive,
That is alive,
That is full of so much and allow yourself to be flooded with images of landscapes and elements and animals and all of the life that is here.
And as you breathe,
Remind yourself,
Remember that you're part of that life and human life is such an odd type of life on planet earth at this time.
So as we breathe,
Let's offer a prayer that we in our efforts and our breathing and our practicing and our coming together may also be in service to reconnection and remembering and reunification and regeneration with the beauty and creative essence and life force that is earth's gift and generosity.
Okay,
And then let's bring our hands together and feel in their meeting the coming together of left and right.
And in the coming together of left and right,
Let's be reminded of our own midline and central channel.
Let's feel the right and the left hemispheres of our brains,
Our right and left arms,
Right and left lungs,
Right and left legs,
Kidneys,
Ovaries,
So many paired organs.
And then as you breathe,
Breathe into your center.
And breathe out into all of your sides.
And let's offer another prayer with our breath into our own beings that we may find union of opposites within our own selves.
And as we come into alignment with this union,
That the delusions of competing binaries and dualistic systems fall away.
That we can arrive here and now with all that is and all that is becoming.
And then bring your hands to your face and rub your face and rub around your forehead.
And rub around your eyes.
And then lightly,
Gently stroke your face.
And as you do,
Imagine you're stroking the face of a beloved one because you are.
Touch your face as if you were touching the face of a very,
Very precious being who's only here for a short amount of time.
And then let's let our hands come and rest over the front parts of our heads,
Kind of hairline,
Forehead,
Upper crown.
And let's send love into our brains.
And as you breathe,
Can you send your breath all the way up into your skull?
And imagine and sense that your hands can touch through the skin and through the bone and energetically arrive at the brain as if they're holding your brain.
Holding this front part of the brain that does so much planning.
And just send love to your brain,
Send gratitude to your brain.
Thanks,
Brain,
For being such a great brain.
It's hard to be a brain in the world.
And then allow one hand to stay at the front of the head and let one hand slide to the back of the head.
And feel the balance between the front and the back of the brain.
And then allow both hands to slide to the back.
And with the elbows spread and the palms behind you,
You might kind of soften the shoulders and imagine you're resting back into the hammock of your hands.
And breathe into the base of your skull.
And let the back of the brain now receive your gratitude and energy.
This is the part of your brain that dreams,
That receives impulses that are deeply animal and earthly,
And that connects you with your long time ancestral inheritances,
Human and more than human.
Thanks,
Brain.
Allow the hands to slide over the ears,
Really gently cupping the ears,
And then send love into your ears.
And as you send love into the ears,
You might offer a very simple prayer that in this portal and gate,
Where listening comes in,
Hearing of the outside world,
That you hear with wisdom and discernment and love.
Thanks,
Ears.
And then allow the hands to slide over the eyes and send gratitude into your eyes.
And let the eyes soften and rest back and receive.
Send a prayer into your eyes that all that they perceive today and all days be clear,
Unclouded by delusion,
Accurately perceiving the beauty and love that is always already here in this phenomenal world.
And let your hands slide down over your nose and send love into your nose.
Thanks,
Nose.
And as you send love into your nose,
Offering a prayer that your instincts may be sharp,
That you can smell bullshit from a mile away,
And that you can also smell and sense what is sweet and most nourishing,
And that you will be guided by the living intelligence of your body.
And then let your hands hover over your mouth.
And send gratitude to your mouth.
Thanks,
Mouth.
And bless your lips and your teeth and your tongue and the cavity of your mouth that leads into your throat,
Giving thanks for this gate where the world comes in and the voice releases out and becomes part of the world.
And offering a prayer that this gate may be held with care and compassion,
That all that passes through this gate,
Inwards or outwards,
Be truly nourishing and full of love.
And then allow your hands to come and rest over the center of your throat.
And send love into your voice,
Into your breath,
Into your throat.
And then let your hands hover over your mouth,
Offering a prayer that your voice may carry that which is most true,
Most authentic and accurate,
Most brilliantly expressive of the love that lives inside of you,
Including the moments when you speak truth,
When you clarify boundaries,
When you voice what needs to be voiced,
Including the moments that you sing,
That you uplift,
That you adore.
Sending love into your voice.
Thanks,
Voice.
And then allowing the hands to rest over the heart.
Sending love into the heart.
Thanks,
Heart.
Sensing your breath,
Feeling how the world outside comes in,
Into your heart,
And then is distributed through your blood into your whole body.
Imagining your heart beating and pumping,
Taking in breath,
Sending it to all of you.
All of your cells,
Taking in all that the cells metabolize and give back,
Releasing it into the lungs and back into the world,
This heart.
What an important job it has,
Receiving and giving.
Sending a prayer to your heart,
That your heart might be receptive and wise in the ways that it receives and gives,
Generous and wise in the ways that it gives and receives.
Thanks,
Heart.
Allowing your hands to slide to your outer ribs and sending breath into your breath,
Love into your breath.
Thanks,
Lungs.
Breathing out into your hands,
Letting your breath spread into the sides and the backs of your lungs.
As you breathe,
Thanking your breath.
Thanking breath.
Breath has passed now through countless bodies,
Countless beings,
Interconnecting all life on earth and in space.
Feeling the space of your breath,
Connecting you beyond this lifetime,
Beyond this timeline,
Beyond this place.
Thanks,
Lungs.
Thanks,
Breath.
Then allowing your hands to slide down over your belly.
And as you hold your belly,
Sending love into all of your organs,
Sending love into the parts of your anatomy that digest and absorb and assimilate and make use of food and water,
Sending gratitude to your guts,
Sending gratitude to your organs of elimination and reproduction.
Giving thanks for these miraculous intelligences that know how to make use of what they are part of,
Give back to what gives to them.
Giving thanks to the billions of healthy bacteria,
Our microbiome flora,
So many beings that we live with that are here to support us.
Giving thanks to our bellies,
Giving thanks to those bacterial beings.
And then finally allowing the hands to slide back to the sacrum,
Holding the base of your spine.
And breathing into your back body now,
Maybe allowing your spine to curve a little bit so that the lower back can get wide and full as you breathe.
Breathing into your bones,
Your back.
And as you breathe into your bones and breathe into your back,
Let's give thanks to all the ones that have come before,
To the ancestors of these bodies in their human and more than human realms.
Thank you,
Ancestors.
And offering a prayer into our sacred bones and to the base of our spines that we may be here in good ways,
Connected with our lineages in ways that bring healing and change that is liberatory,
Evolutionary,
And bringing us back to the wholeness that we already are.
And then slide the hands down the legs and just brush out your legs.
And slide the hands down your face and brush out your arms.
And brush out your chest and belly and sides and back.
