Hi,
My name is Robert Aceves and I welcome you to this mindfulness meditation,
Chocolate guided meditation.
For this meditation,
You'll need your favorite chocolate or if you don't like chocolate,
Choose your favorite treat to eat instead.
Today,
We'll practice mindful eating which is being present with the taste and the experience of eating.
Being aware of how our body is receiving the food,
Being aware of what's around us while we're eating,
Chewing very slowly in order to help with digestion.
Eating mindfully can also be a great time to practice gratitude for all the work and sacrifice that's gone into what we put into our bodies and for the nourishment and sustenance it gives us.
This is a lot harder to do when most of us don't grow,
Harvest,
Raise or kill most of our food.
If you struggle with classic sitting meditation,
Mindful eating can be a lovely way to practice mindfulness within your daily routine with all the added health benefits.
To begin this practice,
You'll need to be in a quiet place where you can eat in silence while doing nothing but eating and feeling what's going on in your body as you eat and what sensations and emotions arise.
Later on,
You may practice in loud places and with other people around but for now,
We'll begin with small steps.
Make sure that chocolate or treat is within reach.
Let's begin.
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
That's it.
And slowly let go of any tension you might be experiencing.
Perhaps any tension you may be holding in your muscles.
You want to start your chocolate meditation as physically relaxed as possible.
Now focus on the air going into your body and the air leaving your body.
And notice how your body is feeling right now.
And see if you can relax a little bit more.
That's it.
Now grab the chocolate with your right hand and feel it in your hand.
You may feel the surface of the chocolate packaging if it's packed.
And slowly open the chocolate.
That's it.
Now slowly bring it up to your nose and inhale the scent of the chocolate or your treat.
Let it wash all over you like a wave of smell.
And notice if your mouth is responding to it as well.
Look at the chocolate and see how that affects all of your senses.
You may feel the desire to eat it but don't.
Just stay with that feeling and notice what happens in your body.
That's it.
Now break off a piece of it and look at it.
Really let your eyes drink in what it looks like.
Examining every nook and cranny,
The bubbles and the cracks,
The individual grains of cocoa.
Now if you're comfortable,
Close your eyes and bring it to your lips and feel how it melts as it touches your skin.
If you lick your lips,
You can start to taste the creamy taste of the chocolate or your dessert.
And let that taste turn on your taste buds.
And now savor it for a moment.
That's it.
Finally take a small bite of your chocolate and let it sit in your tongue and melt slowly in your mouth.
Notice the flavors becoming completely absorbed in what you're experiencing right now.
Notice the sensations in your mouth.
Notice your breathing.
Notice everything about this experience.
See if it's possible to hold the chocolate in your tongue and let it melt.
Notice any resistance to that or any craving or desire.
Not judging,
Just noticing.
Eating it slowly.
Noticing all the changes that are happening in your body.

Your favorite treat.
Chocolate has over 300 different flavors.
See if you can sense some of them.
After the chocolate has completely melted,
Very slowly swallow it.
Feel the sensations in your body's response as it goes down your throat.
Notice how your mouth feels now.
Taste your lips and the residue in your mouth of the leftover chocolate or your dessert.
Notice the feeling of wanting or not wanting to take a second bite.
Try to even follow the feeling of your hand coming up towards your mouth and any emotions that arise.
How does it feel?
Once the chocolate is in your mouth,
How does that feel?
If other thoughts drift into your mind as you're absorbing your chocolate,
Gently turn your attention back to the flavors and sensations you're experiencing now.
Repeat these with one other piece.
This time,
Consider who grew the ingredients of this chocolate.
Where they may have come from.
Think about the beings who made it possible for you to be eating it right now.
The beings who made it possible for the plants to grow.
Let's thank them.
Let's give them a little gratitude.
That's it.
Now go back to your breathing and the feeling of your body.
Spend a little time after you finish your chocolate or your dessert,
Sitting quietly for a few minutes and observe the feeling in your body.
Relax.
And allow the love and the care that's been given to this food nourish you as well.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes and return to your daily routine.
Thank you for your attention.
You may now take a moment to relax and relax for a moment of silence.
You may now take a moment to relax for a moment of silence.
Relax and return to your daily routine.
Thank you for your time and I'll see you next time.
So so so so
