Call upon the four elements to create and hold a loving, awakening space for you to do restorative healing of the self in this yoga nidra practice. This practice focuses on self-awareness, compassion, and connection with self, others, and the world. Visualization of the elements strengthens us and allows us to grow and experience healing in a state of rest.

Hello,

And welcome.

Today we will engage in a practice of elemental yoga nidra,

Which means we call upon all elements to integrate and restore our chakras and our being.

I invite you to find yourself in a comfortable and welcoming space.

There is no performing,

Posing,

Or posturing here.

Whether you're on the floor,

A couch,

Chair,

A bed,

Or something in between,

Be in a space that allows you to feel a sense of safety to sink deeper into this practice.

I invite you to check in with some points of interest,

Checking where the shoulders are.

Are they coming up towards the ears,

Or are they beginning to slide up and down the back?

Looking between the space between our eyebrows,

Looking at our stomach and what that might be holding or not.

And now,

I invite you to come on a journey with me and begin.

Take notice of your breath,

Not trying to change in any way what your breath is doing of its own accord.

Just look at it through scientist eyes,

Observing for the first time this unique thing that we all do.

I invite you to notice that whatever you are on is holding you at this time,

And beyond the earth is holding you snugly and supportively.

A part of this practice just as you are.

Begin to allow yourself to sink,

Dropping all tension from all muscles as possible.

Tension sinking deeper into the couch,

Chair,

Bed,

Floor,

Knowing that no matter how you sink and where you sink,

You will be held lovingly and strongly by Mother Earth.

She has sent out her roots to come and hold you.

The roots are making a gentle cradle for you.

You are being held by the palm of Mother Earth.

See the branches and the roots,

The leaves,

The colors,

All under you,

Holding you.

And what we are held in this way,

Our consciousness senses safety and security.

And we can begin to invite the element of air.

I invite you to project your consciousness just an inch above your body,

Right outside the outline of your body.

And once you get it out,

Just an inch,

See if you can push it to two or three.

Even if it's just a centimeter above the outline of your body,

Your consciousness is healing and connecting with others in the universe.

And you are tapping into the deep well of compassion,

Love,

And intellect that you so inherently have in every fiber of your being.

Know that you are rooted and your consciousness is strong.

The collective unconscious is bonding with you.

You are one with all things living,

All things thinking and breathing and growing.

Just be.

Just be,

Little one.

You are held here.

You are regarded with such dignity and care in this space.

Just rest.

Venerable ji.

Jai Swami.

Feel your consciousness expanding into a bright,

Clear light.

And as with everything,

We come full circle and begin to draw our consciousness back within the outline of our body.

Feel water,

Waves of water,

Helping you wash your consciousness to sink into you and to clear the space around you.

Water,

One of the most powerful forces,

Has been called on just for you.

To help you bring consciousness inward,

Taking all the compassion,

Love,

Intellect,

Support,

And living that you have received with you.

Waves of water crashing over your consciousness,

Drawing it back inwards,

Flowing up the body,

Down the body,

Up the body,

Down the body.

Your consciousness will settle as it is ready.

I invite you to let the element of water assist you and strengthen you.

Now,

Become aware that as this time we've been working with our consciousness,

Mother Earth has held us with her branches and her leaves and her roots.

Feel those roots holding you.

Remind yourself that she's here with you.

And she is ready to work with you and send you back soon into this world.

We begin to call upon the element of fire.

Fire,

This element when used energetically,

Is nothing to fear,

My dear.

It gives us rejuvenation,

Clarity,

And brings on immense growth and newness and freshness of life.

With me call upon fire,

Fire will begin gently working up the branches that Mother Earth has held out for you.

She knows that earth and fire can work together and they come to support you.

Like a phoenix,

You will rise.

Rise from the ashes.

Ash to ash,

Dust to dust.

Now,

See the fire crackling,

Gently working its way up to the cradle of roots that you have been held in during this time.

As everything begins to gently ash away,

You are set upon new ground.

Ground that is fertile and free and ready for the next time that you come in this space.

Mother Earth will have new branches and roots born out of her phoenix rising to hold you once again.

It is the cycle of life and you are a dear,

Dear part of it.

Now,

As you lie on this fertile soil and ash,

Soft and gentle under you,

We realize all four elements have been called upon to bless you and strengthen you.

Now,

I invite you to look up in your world,

In your inner world,

The sun is already beginning to encourage and create growth and life from you and the plants and the animals.

The simplicity of being one with the earth.

We are one of many,

But we are one of our own.

Now,

As we begin to transition out of this elemental yoga nidra,

I invite you to notice the changes in your body and your mind.

Allow yourself to rise back up into this world,

The seat,

Chair,

Bed,

Floor or something in between that you ended up on today.

Begin very gentle,

Slow movements if you feel comfortable to do so.

You may feel tingly,

Heavy,

Tired or energized.

Please all let you know that you have done the work that you set out to do today.

You have done the healing,

My friend.

Now,

May you be sent out from this place with blessings and bound from this space of growth and do what you were set out to do.

Be who you really are and know you are.

Be well.
